Web based Squadron administration

Will there be web based squadron administration implemented?
I can't always get access to my PS4 to check applications etc but usually, I can get onto my mobile phone or laptop.

All it takes is a public API. The community can take it from there.

Highly unlikely that this would be made open to an API to receive data into the ED system. It is far too open to abuse and too simple to cheat. The amount of valisation required to manage input from something like an API would outweigh the effort in FD putting together the toolset themselves.

There is already an API, that is the one used by EDDN. Software and websites like EDDI, EDSM and EDDB use this API in order to give you a route to another system that sells what you need, for example. This API is only one-direction currently, they could expand it to cover the functions OP is proposing.

How do you manage this in other games?

It used to be an external forum, now it seems many are moving towards Discord.

And I do not get the "I can't always get access to my PS4 to check applications"... why do you make it sounds that you are running a one man show here? I would expect there to be several other squadron leaders/administrators, that also have the power to accept/deny new people. So this should not really be a problem.

And if it is so important, why not pickup a copy of Elite for your laptop on the next sale? and, create an account for the pure usage to login and check this status that way? should be doable from wherever you have internet. Just making a big assumption here that your laptop is capable of running Elite here at minimum settings, should be enough to check applications and approve/reject these.

Thats the point! The API is currently ONLY extracting data FROM the ED data bases.
Taking unregulated Data INTO the ED databases is a MUCH bigger issue. The API is reading basically open text data. You need to validate and verify every item of data before you allow it into your system.

Not sure I understand what you are on about here. I am talking about ED not other games. And as far as Discord goes, I am no fan.

This is a relevant point. However, we all work so we don't always have an online presence. Also, I would like to administer from a web based client at work ;)

Mainly because Squadrons do not appear to cross over between platforms. So, even though I already own ED on my laptop, I don't see the same squadrons on the PS4.
