Week 21 : Thargoids attacking Bok and Dhanhopi

Targets this week are Bok and Dhanhopi. Dhanhopi is < 30 Ly from Alioth for all you Alliance fans.

Dhanhopi has intercetor grade NHSS for those who want to emulate Will & Ed, Bok only has Scouts confirmed so far.

Aegis ships are in Triton* and Gree if you want missions**.

* No, not that Triton.
** No, they don't count towards saving the systems

Just arrived in Dhanhopi with my ax conda "Shepherd of Fire". I just finished putting the experimental effect on the hull, hrp and SB's and was hoping to find a lone interceptor to test my ship out. Any megaships in the out laying systems?

There are wrecked Megaships in the Aegis Ship systems - Gree would be the close one to Dhanhopi.

Highly entertaining time can be had shooting sprouts with a plasma charger from a 550m/s courier while in VR. Just don't have a big lunch beforehand.

[big grin]

I was in BOK saturday with my T10. Every non-human USS was threat 3-4 i.e. scouts. 4 Gauss cannons + Elite slf AX fighter. Good practice session; wiped out about 25 scouts.

Is it worth trying to estimate the 3.2 release date based on the rate of progress towards some target centre of civilisation? Presumably if they are this close to the centre of the bubble we'll be seeing some new mechanism to directly defend against attack rather than just react to the 'Magic Thursday' chess board moves. Then in 3.3 we might get some way to go on the offensive & preempt their attacks.

Is there any way to know where one could find NHSS in the bubble without searching the forum? If not, then it's just stupid.

You mean something like a Powerplay type view of the Thargoid position? With tasks to engage in to take part in the conflict? Scouting/recon missions into asteroid fields to locate/scan Thargoid assets without detection? Holo-me'ing into fighters at a Capital Ship engaging a Thargoid fleet? Escorting civilian ships though an asteroid field to as Asteroid Station? Defending a station under Thargoid attack and trying to break a Thargoid station blockade to try and escort supply ships in?

*sigh* :(

NHSS?

We can 'directly defend' against attacks, as we showed through the multiple weeks of zero success for the Thargies. FD have confirmed it's Thargoid kills they count (only in the systems under threat). If we kill enough we save the system, though at the moment people are bored / on holiday so we're losing a lot.

If we lose one of the systems this week (Dhanhopi I think) then the Thargoids may attack Alioth (hope they've got the permit) - will be interesting to see if FD will do that.

I don't think we'll get more than weekly targets for a while - the 3.0 Trailer showed Galnet updates for targets, which would be nice, but expecting lots of new gameplay content around them is unrealistic as FD are re-using existing mechanics to tide us over this year. Not sure how we could go on the offensive unless they make Barnacles / Thargoid Structures take damage.

Though I'll be happy to be proved wrong ;)

You make a good point about the 3.x season being one of consolidation rather than innovation, but I see any revised Thargoid content as consolidation of 2.4.

First we can only react (repair the stations), then we will be able to directly act (ie see the attacks happening & defend the station), finally being able to pre-empt an attack (protect a station from being attacked at all).

Once that's in place it would make sense that we will eventually be able to go on the offensive, seeking out & disabling their bases with new tools. I agree it'll be interesting to see how they act in a major hub of human activity.

... at the moment people are bored / on holiday so we're losing a lot. ...

Not bored and not on holidays - but it so frelling HOT outside (and inside too, as AC is not a thing in Berlin's older buildings) and the chance to find me under my VR HMD is close to zero.
Sorry, I have to opt out. It is all on you brave people ... get them tigers! ;)

so killing goids via Aegis missions from the nearby Aegis ship doesnt count towards "saving the system"?

correct. No, I don't understand either, but that's what FD said.

Edit: Updated FP as I only found out this week - next week we know from the start.

Week is over - Aegis ships have their new flight plans - CW Ursae Majoris and Kamadhenu are their destinations. Kills probably don't matter now as the totals have been calculated.

Stay tuned for next week's targets on Thargsday ;)
