Weekly Server Maintenance

Why do you guys have to do the server maintenance always at the very same time?
Some of us can only play at that time.
I'm not suggesting to do it in the evening or at night 04:00 am (God forbid), but please shuffle the time a little (one week at 07:00 one week at 08:00 and so on) so that you don't take it always on the very same players.
People playing in the morning paid as much as the people playing at other times...

Well I think there are 2 reasons for the fixed maintance time at its current spot:
a) The current time is roughly 9:00AM in the UK and the rest of europe, so not a lot of people playing, same with the US as it is somewhere in the late night for them. The 2 biggest customer bases.
b) Should the time be moved into the window of high activity, I rekon the servers will just crash under the sudden arrival of so many players as it has happened in the past with new updates, betas, events like DW II launch.

So yeah it sucks for some right now, but moving it might just create a weekly crash and generate bad PR.

I used to be a major campaigner for this waaaay back. I could be wrong but I seem to remember server reboots being daily right at the beginning and, as an early morning UK player, it REALLY bugged me that it cut into the play sessions of the same people all the time. Now that it's weekly I'm pretty relaxed about it but I do feel your pain.

Comparing it with the movable feast that is the BGS tick I think you'll find there are more complaints about the BGS tick constantly moving than there are about the PP restart being fixed. So hopefully it stays fixed :)

In my post I was not asking for it to be shifted randomly.
I do know and totally understand it is but a minority playing in the morning.
I was asking for the shut down time to be shifted by one or two hours so that it's not always at 07:00 UTC.
One week at 07:00, one week at 08:00, one week at 09:00 then back to 07:00 and so on. It would still be the very same time frame, just shifted a little.

It's usually only 15 minutes of downtime.

It used to annoy me, because I'd come on for 30 minutes before work to do a few bits.
But then my shifts changed so now I don't have time. Problem solved! Lol

Chances are, FD just do the maintenance at the beginning of their work day, once a week, on one of the quietest days.
(They'll have the statistics).

The biggest problem with what the OP is suggesting is the scheduling, One would think that is controlled by a script or cron job and it not like "rebooting your PC" but more of starting / stopping services, backup's and updates etc...
So changing the schedule is not as straight foward as one would think.

Don't be silly now, if FD used computers or automation for their servers, the hamster would be out of a job.
If you want something that's probably done by someone when they get into work then the Eagle Eye updates are probably still manual - sometimes they're 9:00am, sometimes 11:00am, sometimes 3:00pm. Almost like it's when someone remembers to run the script ;) And don't get me started on the good old days when they used to have spelling mistakes in the system names :)

Unless it was very well signposted in Powerplay, its a no. Powerplay attacks are co-ordinated down to the last minute of the cycle. To see the havoc messing with the server time causes, check out Cycle 52. In short, it broke Powerplay for many.
