Weird CQC ''bug''

Have you people encountered this super weird thing?
I was having a good time in CQC for hours. Then after people left and I was playing vs one player for many rounds this happened:

I noticed he re-spawned and stood still. He somehow re-spawned with shield boost. I started blasting that but he took no damage. Shield boost has wear off, but he still wouldn't take damage.
Then I positioned myself behind him and saw that each time I shot at him, his ship would fire forward too! But craziest thing was, whenever I made him shoot by shooting at him, visually it would fire forward, but damage registered at me! So I managed to kill my ship by shooting him from behind standing still.

Serious lag/desynchronization. Each party likely saw very different things.
It's interesting, because it seems like the server attached my entity to that enemy and I was shooting myself.
We both were playing imperial fighters with rapid fire cannons btw. Having same loadout can make server go crazy apparently.
