Well, I want credits, but not the easy way (request / suggestion)

I am a poor commander despite being over 3 thousand hours played. That´s my choice, I preferred to do stuff I enjoyed rather than focusing on money grinding. Question is... why? Because most money grinding options are boring for me, even before they were nerfed.

From my point of view: Most players want money, but also a challenge. Now the addition of wing based mission gives us a great opportunity for that. I would love to be offered great rewards for extremely challenging missions. I am talking, for instance:

-A reward of 50 million credit for hunting down a pirate that owns an extremely modded Corvette (And who's AI is the dream child of the Mistress of Minions).
-Pay me 40 millions to go on a search and rescue mission of an explorer in an escape pod whose last known position was a system at thousands of LY from the bubble.
-Give me a reward of 150 millions offered by a faction that is loosing a war for actually WINNING the war.
-Offer 100 million credits to me and my wingmates to chase off a Federal Battlecruiser and its whole escorting fleet.
-Offer 70 millions to transfer thousands of tonnes of critical cargo that cannot be lost and send after me extremely dangerous oponents that will use FSD rebooters missiles, so I can't easily run away.
-Ask me to recover data from an outpost guarded by a whole fleet and to travel somewhere else while being chased.

In other words: I WANT TO FEEL LIKE AN ELITE. Give me extremely difficult and extremely well payed missions, Frontier. I believe that's something this game needs desperately.

Thanks for reading!

Yes [expletive] please.

This would be nice, although the corvette pirate thing is already kindof in game just with the same silly face hugging ai and only rewarding about a million credits.

One of my favorite income sources was mining because it was fun and had the most variety of any part of the game simply due to all the steps in the process (imo, I know most find it boring though). But I kindof got that nerfed :(

But back to your point, I will say the most fun I have had in this game in a long time was when I was cif hunting and had an assassinate politician mission for 4 cif that I took in my clipper, and I forgot to equip shield cell banks. I died so I came back in my vulture, and even then it was a tough fight. Not because the politician was well armed, but because he was protected by like 4 wings of cops. After that I did an assassinate pirate mission for cif in my clipper again, and again I forgot SCB. It was a close battle that I barely won (my clipper didn't have the best weapon loadout at the time either) but I was super invested in it, more so than I have been in the thousands of other PvE fights I have been in.

It's a shame that experiences like that aren't more common.

I agree with the OP.

I'm a big fan of the Splinter-Cell games (the first 3, at least).
The thing that appeals to me was that the objectives were usually pretty straightforward but you couldn't just charge in, shoot up the joint, grab the widget and make a run for it.
Instead, you usually had to creep around, disabling video cameras and tripwires, then you could sneak in, take out one or two of the guards, hide their bodies, find some way to access the objective, obtain it and then slip out again without raising the alarm.

It'd be nice if ED could find a way to implement something similar.

I notice, for example, that some of the orbital bases have internal corridors which can be accessed in a small/medium ship.
A couple of them even have what seems to be some kind of "reactor chamber" a bit like the Death Star from ROTJ.
Seems like those could make the ideal spot for some kind of mission objective(s).

It'd be great if one "mission" involved travelling to one system, meeting a contact, carrying out a couple of missions for them in return for some kind of "access code" which'd get you inside the target outpost.
You might then travel to the objective and you'd find it so heavily guarded that a direct assault was impossible.
Instead, you'd have to fly around, possibly to different systems, hunting down ships from the target group.
Sooner or later, one of the ships would drop some kind of "IFF transponder" which you could pick up and it'd allow you access to the objective without being attacked.
You'd then use the code you previously got to enter the actual structure (alerting the defenders as you did so), fly around and either collect stuff or destroy stuff and then, finally, a "boss ship" would have to be destroyed in order to complete the mission.

As far as I can see, current in-game assets and mechanics could already support missions like that.
The only issues would be making it all work using procedural generation and take account of the possibility of things working differently as a result of playing in different modes.

Off the top of my head, I don't think there's anything in ED that's more than a single-step operation (aside from the current "contacts" in assassination missions, where you arrive at A, get told to go to B and then meets a contact who tells you to go back to A [rolleyes]).
It'd be great if there were proper multi-faceted missions, where accepting one meant you were setting out on a proper little "adventure".
