If you want to try (why would you?) Ross 780 and Il Aquarii are somewhat the same travel time from each other as a run to hutton orbital.

Well as far as pre-loading goes these would not put a big strain. I mean the game already preloads a bunch of things in the background while you play... just not the systems.

Pre-loading for such an edge case issue would be pointless.

This reminds me a lot of when I was on the Build-team modding Sea Dogs and Sea Dogs 2: PoTC. (yep - that was a while ago. )
Similar situation: you could not sail between islands; you had to enter the map in order to let the new region load.

I'd figured out how to expand the land zone so the ship would sail farther onto the map, but you'd still need to go back to the map - just a second; a double-tap on the M- key - to load the new island.
It was included in the Build, along with my wind mod, but I think got dropped in subsequent Builds. (My Wind Mod is still there though lol)

I like the idea. Once you reach a point close to the destination permit locked system you get hyperdicted out of supercruise by three Farruguts, Two Majestics, six Medusae and a hive ship.
If you can get past them and can dock at a hostile Coriolis then you have earned the permit.

When I first discovered that HS jumps were just loading screens and you couldn't simply fly in SC from one star to another, the immersion bubble burst. (Not including the self-healing, magic induced shenanigans of NPCs of course.)
