What a Noob Mistake Trying to get to Shenve Chloe Eng

I'm in my Corvette, full engineered FSD but somehow only has jump range of 17.82LY

I engineered it about 2 years ago. Maybe I should re-do it, but anyway I thought maybe Chloe could make it go further. So I went to map and tried to map route to it from Luyten's Star.

Route failed!!!!

SO I preceded to buy the biggest fuel tank. Still no luck.

So I tried to find stars half way. I did this several times not realizing I was plotting stars not on the same plane. Finally when realised that I had actually gon eback closer to my starting point did I throw the towel in.

I've been playing this game on and off for YEARS!

So my questions are:

1. How can I increase my jump range?

2. How do you plot an un-route able route?

Now off to do 28 jumps to get back to where I was!!!!

Okay, so first thing - my advice would be to hit up Inara or EDDB, find the nearest station with a large pad, and change ships into literally anything other than that corvette. An unengineered hauler could get a better jump range than that.

Second thing - Chloe only does frame shift drives up to grade 3. For grade 5, you want Felicity Farseer or Elivra Martuuk, both of which are much closer to home. Chloe Sedisi doesn't actually offer you anything that you can't get from Professor Palin.

edit: and for a combat-fit corvette, 17ly is about as good as you're going to get without a guardian FSD booster.

How to increase jump range (you can select from any of the below):

1. Use a ship with a better base jump range.
2. Use lower class size modules, and D rated wherever possible, as it's lighter.
3. Use a Guardian Frame Shift Driver Booster.
4. Engineer your FSD with Farseer or Martuk.

Test out your planned configuration using https://coriolis.io/

Can't just synth an FSD boost to clear the gap? Also, are you close enough/ at the right angle when plotting? I usually can't plot to whn until I'm really close. I have a bookmark right at the border, and plotting from there gets me in.

My combat outfit Vette is right at 18Ly without, and 29Ly with, a 5H Guardian FSD Booster.
OP your jump range is pretty normal. Vette is the shortest jumper of the big 3.
I really don't bother jumping it where I want it anymore. I undersized my FSD and engineered for fast boot, traded my guardian fsd booster for another HRP, and I transfer it from station to station as needed. Why spend 45 minutes jumping it somewhere when I can spend 10 minutes jumping there in a DBX, then can transfer it to where I am in 20 minutes.
I suppose having a stripped down FC may actually end up being worth it for me.

My corvette is level 2 FSD engineering with guardian fsd boost. 26.60 LY range. What did you put on your corvette? Maybe Im missing something? I want to know about it.

Edit: nvm a size 5 guardian fsd will get you 10 more ly.

Here is a useless Corvette built purely for jump, probably around the maximum range it can get.

Galactic Flotsam

Work backwards from that until you have a Corvette that does what you need it to, at the maximum jump range it can for what you've packed into it.

Pinning an additional Thruster blueprint ...:eek::eek:

It is almost like fleet carriers will allow you to, you know ... carry your fleet.

'Corvette' and 'jump range' do not go together in a sentence, unless it's heavy on sarcasm. Kinda like 'Pizza' and 'diet' .

I'd head to Elvira to get the FSD fixed, personally. Her system is less infested, especially for a non-modded ship. Make that your first stop on the "2020 New Corvette Engineers Tour" you just signed up for. High 20's is typical for a combat build Corvette, and that's using a guardian FSD booster. My guess is FD did that so no-one would use it as a trader ( due to the internal slots ). But the other combat specific ships also have miserable range ( Vulture and FDL ).

FC's are going to change this, allowing these ships/build into places they were never capable of reaching before. So it might be a dead issue soon.

And here I am, jumping around in a Corvette without FSD booster, shielded FSD and sub-12 LY jumprange.
Good luck shooting out my FSD though 😂

Now there’s a challange. We all know you can construct a jumpaconda, but who can construct the ship with the most abyssmal jump range?

My entry

(My signature vette is really the ship with the worst jumprange in my fleet. I don't even have 2d FSD ships any more... even my FDS jump further)

... oh, did I say you actually have to build it or that it has to be useful? 😏
Here is a useless FGS with the enormous jump range of 0.26 ly.
Update: Can't believe I forgot the lightweight armor on ... Here is an update with 0.24 ly jump range ...

I mean, I'm pretty sure my San Tu, PvP fighter takes the cake here.

Or are we talking Corvettes?
I was thinking in general, but I am sure we can arrange several different categories of competition:
  • Corvettes.
  • Ships you actually built.
  • Theorycrafted lowest jump range.
