What a sad game this is when you have to resort to combat logging because of crappy game mechanics

It would be much cooler to have the interdictor device do just what its name implies. Interdict the target's drive from working. The target drops in normal space, the interdictor ship has to approach and drop on its wake. This gives time for the target to prepare, put some distance between himself and the drop point, engage silent running, call friends, call the cops, whatever. Increase the target's cooldown period if that's a concern. It's also an incentive for the interdictor to try and interdict targets as close as possible as opposed to hundreds of light seconds away. This gives rise to a cat and mouse game where chases across a system might actually take place.

I would have brought back Jumpdrive tbh instead of FSD and if the player got near a target that could mass-lock then they dropped into normal space. Made Elite much more combat orientated than pulling ships from FSD to kill which all it does it setup and put you both in a instance.

The worst EVER interdiction I have ever had reminded me of the 'Kestrel Air fighters' from Frontier and FFE, this Eagle had no weapons on it (yes I scanned it) it never fired but demanded I drop my imaginary cargo (I couldnt eject the air in the ship so he got nothing). To make it worse they then said they would attack me (what with harsh language) so after seeing if the bounty was worth it I killed him and claimed the 12k bounty hell knows how he got that without any weapons though.

I've been playing since the first beata version years ago and have never combat logged yet, I'm not sure i see the reason?

Well goody for you...I have done the same as the OP. Gotten stuck in a STUPID chain of interdictions, hell it has happened when I had no cargo and no missions. Just one after another. I draw the line around 5x within 10ls of a station. Then I log out and back in to break the very poorly written script that is in a loop.

Wow.

I remember playing PacMan in my youth. It was really annoying that there were four ghosts constantly pursuing me and preventing me from completing my endless quest of collecting tiny dots. I'd eat the corner dots and then eat the ghosts but then they would just instantly respawn and start chasing me again. Really annoyed the heck out of me.

What a crappy game. /s
