What am I supposed to do with all of this data?

Your board puter stores a digital certificate for that trash data engineers want for some reason. Then they simply use it to download the data itself from the interstellar network protected storage. Even cracked software is not that freely available to download you know, crackers need to eat, too! I thought everyone is educated in technology these days, not unlike 13 centuries ago!

Anyway, no matter the explanation you come with, it's still just a wonderful design of gather this, that and that and don't go over a limit of a limit, call this a simulation of put-an-esoteric-name-here, and don't bother to explain it. This topic is an example that players will figure it all themselves. Whatever.

No ship has ever tried to contain "every body in the milky way," and I can say that for absolute certainty because according to FDev, all the commanders who ever played the game to date have together explored less than 0.01% of the Milky Way, and it'd take thousands of years at the rate we're going to explore it all. Your analogy doesn't even vaguely hold up here.

What we're saying is that in theory, a side winder could hold the entire galaxy in exploration data (no game limits on data capacity)... yet a Cutter with all the storage space in the world, can still only hold 500 rngineer data scans.

You have a license to store only 500 data pieces. Is it a problem?

The whole 500 limit for something that is just data is... well, you know sometimes when you get that feeling things are unreasonably gamey, without logic... This is one of those times.

Anyway, need my coffee!
