Real World Theme Parks What annoys you when queueing for a ride?

Heh ^^ that's funny :D I was in Phantasialand yesterday. :D I love that Park too, but the Distance is really a Problem. Not as far away as the Efteling. But it was really funny to see three (THREE) Busses full of Dutch People coming to Phantasialand. I think the Efteling is just an hour away from Brühl is it?

Guess you live closer to Europapark then :D (weren't you living in Freiburg? or am i mixing you with someone else?)
Phantasialand is about 1,5 hours from the efteling (maybe 2 hours im not exactly sure). Which is very close to me.. i live about 25 minutes from De Efteling [big grin]

And agree, Phantasialand is wonderfull as well. I didn't like it so much a few years ago but in the last few years they did a LOT to improve the park and i think in a very succesfull way.

Yes i'm from Freiburg. And yes, they give Europa Park a run for its Money in terms of Theming. Granted the Park is much smaller than Europa Park, but everywhere you look, you see very good Theming.

Just look at this:

what bugs me, just like above when you wait in line for awhile and the ride breaks down or it starts lightening out, tampa florida is one of the lightning capitals of the world and happens often, also it bothers me when i stop and smoke at a smoking zone and people are still complaining about me smoking in designated area's. i think alcohol should be banned from the majority of area's also like smoking.

My one major bug bear (particularly in American theme park queues) - Tour Groups. Whilst I appreciate that it's fun to be out and about with your friends, what I don't like is the constant chanting and clapping for however long that the queue is. I know that in recent times that Disney in particular are cutting down on them majorly.
I remember queuing for Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom back in 2013. The queue was huge as the ride had been closed due to an "Incident". As we were near the back of the queue we decided to leave it for a bit and headed to elsewhere in the park. As we were leaving, we saw a big tour group standing around as the group leader was having a big argument with a cast member. It turned out that a number of the tour group had gotten off the ride when it stopped mid-flow, and decided that walking the track was a safe idea. Disney took their tickets off them and told the whole group to leave due to a breach of health and safety!

Sometimes younger groups of people behave as if they owned the place. The funny thing is, if they get thrown out, that's it. No refunds :D

They do behave like that though haha [squeeeeee] There's a reason that rules are there and if you can't follow them, then no refund and removal from the park is the way to go haha [big grin]

seeing people use a disablitiy pass when they CLEARLY don't need it. I'm talking groups of teens. thus slowing down the regular queue and also making someone who really does need it wait longer.

I think it is difficult to judge who does and doesn't need a disability pass without knowing private information about people's disability.

This. I have a friend who is disabled and without knowing and talking directly you probably wouldn't be able to tell. He has a friend with same condition so there is 4 of us with 2 passes (careers go with) so it looks like 4 young adults skipping the queues when we are not.

Had other disabled people going "your not disabled, get out this line" is never fun either and has happened a few times.

Had a similar experience with a friend too, [downcast]

Yes. I have disabled access. Before I haven't really used it but now lately I am using it because I have added problem with standing for more than short while. It is normally not covered because I haven't gotten any paper on that but I am able to use disabled because of my deafness.

I was in particular bad state when we visited disneyland paris that we had to rent wheelchair for me. I did notice large difference in attitude, both from other people and by the workers. By the workers, it is all about no unneccessary standing etc. But when I am not having wheelchair attitude is very different because they do not know about my feet issue so I can get to wait standing for up to 1 hour anyway. For example Thorpe Park Nemesis "fast pass" last summer. I wasn't too thrilled.

Disneyland was better because of separate fast pass and disabled pass ("cast member") But with that said, DL Tokyo was a little less good, I think because of different company running it. Or yeah, I did not have wheelchair then. ;)

At home here I am more ok because then I am home and I can be home for days and have fresh feet. On vacation I am expected to walk around (shops, sights, museums, etc...) plus the walking to/from commute. (too expensive to do taxi everyday!) so every day much walk = feet destroyed much soon.

I have yet to figure out why my feet are like this. I have gotten special orthopedic soles molded after my feet. I have 1-2 cm high arches (clearance from ground up to the arch "ceiling"). I thought the soles might help because of that, but apparently there's more than that. When I am in pain the whole foot "glows" of pain. Standing still (in queue) is 1000 times worser than walking (hobbling, haha).

The ride breaking down during your queuing time is definitely one of my hates. Especially if the ride doesn't open again all day.

I also hate it when the people behind you stand too close or their kids keep bumping in to you [shocked]

yes that goes without saying, so of course you don't publicly try to call them out on their bluff. still doesn't change the fact that people still try to fake their way through the front of the line.

The most anoying thing that happend to me was when I was in the que for the coaster Fluch von Novgorod in Hansapark (Germany). The first minutes of waiting were outside and then later you went inside, but when I waited outside the fence was not very save and you can simply go under it and go away. After 10 Minutes waiting 2 kids just came, went under the fence, went in the que and no one cared. That was verry anoying! [mad] (Sorry for my english I live in Germany.)

Few months back I'm at Knott's in line for Ghost Rider...a group was standing at a point in line where you can go and pick a row. The whole back half of the train was empty and this group was just standing there holding things up. I politely asked if they were going for the back. They answered saying that they were not...so I asked if they'd mind if the 3 of us went around so we can fill the empty rows...then I hear a response of "Nah bruh, dat be cutting..."

So I guess it makes sense to just hold up the line and let only half-full trains dispatch when you've got a 2 hour queue behind you...Thankfully we had Fast Lane that day.

I think just to spite us, they ended up taking the back anyway. At least I ended the night on an awesome night ride on the recently re-tracked Ghost Rider.

So, the nearest theme park for me is Thorpe Park, UK. I love it its a great place, I have a Merlin Annual pass so I can go whenever and I am lucky as my friend has ride access passes (Meaning we enter through the exit) so I never really have to queue. However the worst queue experience I ever had was when I was at Fright nights about 2 weeks ago. We were in the line for a horror maze and there was this huge group of (Chavs) behind us. They started asking us for money then offered us some weed. They also were trying to be intimidating and it was a very unpleasant experience. Luckily some security kicked them out so we got in the maze peacefully :)

I never really saw what all the fuss was about when people get all het up because somebody in front hasn't moved forward a whole 2 or 3 metres. It's not like it really matters, you're all going to the same place. It's not like that person is going to make you late or something. That person, and you will just make up the distance the next time the queue moves.

In terms of what annoys me about queues, like others have said it's the ones who push in claiming to be catching up to somebody in the queue up ahead. Like that justifies their actions or something. I bet not one of them has read the signs that define queue jumping.

Also about queues, I wish parks would realise how incredibly dull queueing can be at times. They should be doing all they can to keep the queue line clean and properly maintained. It really bugs me when they have the foresight to include queue line entertainment (like on Spinball Whizzer at Alton Towers), but then cannot be bothered to maintain that equipment.
