Newcomer / Intro What are "Ancient Artefacts"?

I came across four ancient artefacts whilst investigating an unidentified signal source, and I'm unsure as to what to do with them. Could somebody please clarify what they are?

its a mission commodity, you get missions to go looking for them. if you pick them up they can be sold on the black market but be careful where you sell them as scooped cargo is almost always classed as stolen goods.

They are stuff you can sell. There are missions to collect them. Scooping them up makes you have stolen goods in your cargo hold. It is good to know of a platform that has a black market, that way you can avoid security scans.
