what are the orange crescent shaped markers over some stars on the galaxy map?????

That makes no sense? He's talking about the little orange half circles that appear over systems in the galaxy map, and the can appear thousands of LY away from you so it wouldnt make sense for this to be what they are

you obviously know what im talking about , its always on the top of the star , like a crescent moon facing downwards toward the star itself , with the curve pointing upwards .

That makes no sense?

Neither does the question. It's poorly described and could easily be done better with a simple screenshot, but that would require a minimum of effort.

From simple observation they denote what systems are reachable from the currently-selected destination. The arcs do not appear when you have no system selected, so it's not "always on top of the star"

Well not necessarily, because I've been in the bubble, then zoomed in to stars in the core and they have the crescent above the system. Unless you're thinking about something entirely different, if you go in the gal map and look zoom over to systems with the crescent it is always above the system star that is visible in the map. To be honest its probably just a little glitch that never got fixed an isn't worth taking the time to fix.

This? (reddit link below for discussion. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer...?)

I believe they are stars within 1 jump of the star you are currently hovering over. So as you move the selected system around, they'll change. And obviously in the core where things are dense you'll see hundreds of them.

"Currently-selected" system. Not your current system.

It's already been answered above correctly by SushiCW, but just wanted to add (as i have nothing better to do on this bus right now), that I think the little arc icon represents a 'h-jump' possible from the selected system.

But in the picture stormyuk posted you can clearly see that Abazi is two jumps away not one.

Is that two 'economic' route jumps though, when actually it's within single jump range (using fastest route)?

Edit...As abazi is only 8.8ly from ho hsien, i would say that explains it mon ami ☺

Jumpstart57 is right, I still like SushiCW explanaition the best. Is there any chance that the orange curve means that they are the same alignment? (in this case all Federation), as the stating point is Federation?

strange .. i was thinking the same thing when i originally posted the thread ... but the xbox one does not have a decent integrated hand book , for such things .

No, see earlier posts, the arcs appear whether the system is inhabited or not.

Point taken my friend, that sound like a decent enough explanation. I will try and test this with multiple ships/jump ranges when I get home a report back with my findings
