What are your commander names?

A very simpel question for you all.

What is your commander name, and how did you choose it?

Mine is Triptamine.

Tryptamine is found in trace amounts in the brains of mammals and is believed to play a role as a neuromodulator or neurotransmitter.
The tryptamine chemical structure is the backbone for a group of compounds termed collectively substituted tryptamines.
This group includes many biologically active compounds, including neurotransmitters and psychedelic drugs.

Experimented a bit when I was younger.
Name stayed, drugs didn't.

Vulpes Fire.

Foxes are one of my power animals (cow being the other). Vulpes Vulpes is the Latin name for red foxes, so my name is just a unique cool sounding way to say foxfire

Salad.

Not because of the food, I don't actually eat salad, but my favorite radio station is named Groove Salad.

I know, its ok to make fun of it.

Mine is Lunchmoney.

Many years ago, I visited the wifelet at her uni when they were holding a LARP weekend. I wasnt playing, was just there to spend some time with the wifelet and her friends.
During the Saturday evening social I introduced a few people to the card game Lunchmoney (and the add ons, Beer Money and Sticks & Stones).

In theory it's supposed to be for 2-4 players. But because I put several decks together I can accommodate many more. By the end of the evening we had about 24 people playing the game. We are all role-players and LARPers afterall, so we were putting some character into our play moves.

The following year I was told the local gaming store had a run on the game and several people just called me Lunchmoney. The name stuck and I use it everywhere I find I need a pseudonym.

My forum name is the meaning of my surname in Old Norse.

I'm a Yorkshireman and proud of it, and my first name is Richard so my commander name came from that!

I am starsphinx. I started out with sphinx as a user name on a forum because of the cat element (I am a leo born in a year of the tiger) and I can be inscrutable - however sphinx is quite a common choice and in quite a few places it was already used. I do various things on and for the internet and was looking for a domain I could brand. My actual name means "star" so I tried it with the sphinx and the dot com was available. Have not put a site on it yet so dont waste time looking but that is who I am.

Mine is tinimark. Not because I'm small but because the wife's name is Tini, my name is Mark and we used to share an email address back in the days when sharing an email address was a bit more normal.

Tetsu-ko, according to James Clavell in Shogun, means "Lady of Steel" in Japanese. It's the name of Torunaga's hawk... However, I'm not a lady, and neither is my Commander - I had to choose the name quickly because the system wouldn't let me have Cugel, my name from the original Elite :( If we ever get to change names without a reset I may change it.

However, my ship name stays - Tetsukaze meaning Steel Wind. Probably very bad Japanese, but I like it.

My name in game is Yank.

When is was a kid I played a game called Pirate and wanted to change my real name Yann into something more piratish.
Funny thing is that a few years later, a comic strip came out 'L'Epervier' and the pirate in it was called Yann. :)

But a still kept that name for all my games.

CMDR Agony Aunt at your service.

Been Loki on forums and in games since the 90s but since Avengers films came out there are a lot more wannabie Loki's around, so i went with my Admin name from our NWN2 server (see sig). I chose that when i became a DM there since its based around Planescape, where the most powerful figure in Sigil is the Lady of Pain. Agony Aunt was a funny take on the name, and i was also spending a lot of time dealing with player problems (for non-British people, an agony aunt is a writer in a newspaper or other magazine that responds to people's problems and gives them advice, its usually dross about relationships, eg: "I found out that my husband is cheating on me, what do i do?").

Cmdr Jeffrey Stoob.

Not because I'm a dedicated fan of the original series, but because I wanted something subtly geeky that most people would look straight past, but would make the odd person smile when they get the reference.
