My ships are all named after mythological objects.
Anaconda - Cadaceus (staff of Hermes/Mercury, and symbol of commerce)
Asp Explorer - Argo (ship used by Jason to retrieve the golden fleece)
Cobra - Talaria (Hermes's winged sandals)
Diamondback Scout - Tarnhelm (helm of invisibility or teleportation)
Fer de Lance - Ascalon (spear used by St. George used to kill the dragon)
Imperial Clipper - Bident (Twin headed spear of Pluto)
Python - Caliburn (alternate name for Excalibur)

then ship name column --> random order and name ships accordingly. Play game and observe the hilarity.

Only named one in ED - my exploration Anaconda is called Bellerophon. Though the obvious allusion is the monster slayer from Greek myth who rode a Pegasus, it is actually named after the exploration and colonisation ship from the film Forbidden Planet which was destroyed trying to escape the titular planet.
I had intended to say more on the lack of roles in ED compared to, say, EVE, and so there being much less need to have many ships in ED, but it went a bit rambly and off-topic, so I consider yourselves lucky

My DWE AspX was called the Shpadoinkle! (mind the ! at the end, extremely important)

I had a FDL for a short period of time, it was the Zeppelin.
My alt Gustave Flaubert's AspX is Sandinista! (same vital !)
Gustave's Beluga is Salammbô, because Gustave Flaubert.
Gustave also has a racing iEagle, that needs a name...

The Dolphin: will probably remain unnamed until there are decent paintjobs available. My current idea of taking something out of Kill Bill I is probably too vulgar. Unless there will be a yellow/pink paintjob...
