What colours do you associate with the factions?

Having recently returned to the game after a long break, I found to my annoyance that the faction colours have changed in the Galaxy map.

Empire: Blue (was Red)
Federation: Red (was Blue)
Alliance: Green (was Orange)
Independant: Yellow (was Green)

Personally I associate Red and Gold with the Empire. Matches with the classical images of the Romans.

Blue with the Federation as it matches the political colours of todays capitilist parties.

Not sure about Alliance.

Green seemed like a good neutral colour for the neutral systems.


What colours do everyone else associate with the various factions?
When and why did they change the colours in the Galaxy map?

With their station colors and system colors in the galaxy map. Light blue for Empire, Red for Federation. The others I don't see or play in often enough for it to even register.

Empire - Red. All empires are red.
Federation - Green. Mostly because I'm an EVE player and the Gallente Federation is green
Alliance - Blue. I don't know why. Mainly because of the Logo I guess.

For me even before they changed the map colours I always thought of Empire as blue and white, Federation as grey and orange. Alliance: brown for some reason, the kind you might find on the seats of station wagons from the seventies.

Red for the Empire, blue for the Federation and orange for the Alliance. The change still confuses me.

Empire is pink. Yeah this FED stud wrote pink. Perhaps yellow for the cowards they are. BTW how is that sack of bones for an Emperor doing?

The stations colors
Feds = reds
Imps = blue
Alliance = green

Each navy's livery differs from the station colors, but I hardly ever get a good enough look at the ships to associate their colors with the factions.
The colors on the galaxy map also don't match up with the either the ships or the stations.

They should really unify the faction colors in those three areas.

The Allliance is definitly green.
Isn't their stations green to? (Sorry if i get this wrong, i'm exploring atm)

My own thoughts on what the colours should be...

Empire: Red as the blood of the slaves their faction is built upon.

Federation: Blue, the colour of sleaze: of dirty language and nasty billion-credit deals done in strip clubs.

Alliance: Yellow as the bellies of those that allow the misdoings of the other factions to go on unheeded.
