What controls work best with new FSS?

I like the idea of putting it all on the mouse and I agree that the amount of control we have over control bindings is awesome.

I have a Logitech G502, which has a dual-mode scroll-wheel.
Click a mechanical button on the top and it unlocks the click-stop on the wheel so it'll spin (very) freely.

It's actually a really nice feature for the FSS.
You unlock the wheel, spin it either way and then, when you get near a signal-type, you can re-lock the wheel and tune the scanner accurately.

Could've been made for operating the ED FSS. [up]

Well that sounds good. I'm actually using a twelve year old basic optical PS/2 mouse. If it ain't broke and all that...

Rather simple binding here:
- Joystick controls X and Y axis. It's not like I can control the ship while in FSS mode, anyway.
- Left and right on one of the 4 way switches moves the "radio dial" left and right.
- Up on the 4 way is "zoom to target".
- Down on the 4 way is to zoom out.
- Fire button is to select target.
- Secondary fire to "honk".
.
As I have a X-56, I now also have one of the rotaries on the throttle base bound to the radio dial and the two-way right next to it to "zoom to target" and zoom out. But that's really optional, before they allowed to bind to the dial, the above mentioned thing also worked acceptable. (It only was a bit "fiddly" in the early phases of the beta, but enough people reported that and it got adjustable. So it wasn't an issue any more in the later beta phases. )

After a bit of playing around in Beta, I went for:
- pitch and yaw on mouse
- adaptive zoom on up/down arrows
- tuning on left/right arrows
I can't remember exactly what the others were bound to but they aren't needed that often anyway.
