What do the Thargoids want?

I know for a fact that there was an older movie titled "Mars Needs Women".

And for that chick you don't like:

All those alien types seem to have a lack of females caused by their own scientific short-sightedness (war, disease, etc).

And of course from the TV series "People of Earth" "Then they steal your ovaries."

It looks grim, I tell ya!

All Thargoids are females though. So maybe they're after men...

Oh, gawd! They're after our...gonads! Ok, you female pilots can relax now.

Then again, re-populating an entire race? Hmmm,
Then again, what was it about a praying mantis and her mate?
Death! By snu snu.

Serious question. What do we reckon these beings want? As in, for a potential idea, what commodity could we give to them to appease them? According to the Wikia: http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Thargoids It states:

The Thargoid invasions usually seem to be prompted by the need for either agricultural or mineral resources, rather than a sociological or anthropological need to expand or colonise. In fact, the animal life on an invaded world is largely ignored unless it poses a threat to Thargoids.

So guys, I'm open to suggestions here! Looking at their ships, they look organically marine-like, like a giant jellyfish, so I was thinking maybe a commodity like fish or algae. But then, the Thargoids themselves are meant to be insect-like. I'm attempting to run some tests by putting commodities into my cargo hold instead of the usual UAs that everyone else is doing, and see if it attracts them at all. I even plan to jettison the cargo once the systems come back online as a peace offering.

The last comment in that quote is very telling though: In fact, the animal life on an invaded world is largely ignored unless it poses a threat to Thargoids.

This is what I'm counting on. If anyone wants to run some tests too, please do, and let me know how you get on either here, or in this group: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...id-Affinity-Group-(TAG)?p=4976737#post4976737

I have the following in my hold which had no effect :

Ancient casket
Ancient Urn
Ancient Tablet
Ancient orb
Ancient relic
Ancient Totem

Also to note I tried following the wake with these in my hold along with 2 UA, but you still get pushed back from the wake as normal

Thought having these may cause a reaction but it doesn't

If they're looking for UAs, they're not very thorough.
Just gave one a little bit longer company just for kicks, on my way to Maia for a bunch of Thruster Mods.

(one day we'll say "Remember when they were so small and cute? Ah, those were the days!" :D )

I am at present working on a video explaining my theory about this. But I'll try to summarize it here (I started seeing it long time ago in here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-militaristic-analysis?highlight=militaristic )

My basic idea is that all this is a very, galactic survey operation that has suddenly found an alien race. Think about it:

1) We find very few Uas that scan celestial bodies. We interact with them.
2) More and more UAs start to appear. Suddenly they change behaviour and start scanning ships.
3) They point to Merope 5c, Barnacles appear. It is unclear their purpose, but Merope seems the center of the alien activity.
4) UPs appear. They send a highly encrypted data stream using Merope 5C as a mathematical reference.
5) Alien crash sites.
6) Alien interdictions.

This leads me to think that the aliens, probably thargoids, remember us. They sent their probes (UAs and UPs) to study us as much as they could. If you check the UA shell you'll see that it stops just on the verge of the human bubble, which leads me to think this was a way of determine how much we have expanded. Now that the UPs and UAs cannot get more data they are taking a more direct approach by pulling ships out of hyperspace and scanning them.

This is a very, very cautious first contact operation by the aliens. The question now is, what are their intentions?

I assume they just want their UAs back. If some fool ran around stealing my seismographs I'd be pretty upset about it and would want them back too.

That being said, I'm gonna keep grabbing UAs so I can get that wake scan. I'll gladly surrender them if they ask nicely.
