In the right hand panel there is a direct link to the training scenarios: ...I'd say it's done rather well.

RTM is an option only if all else fails and as far as I can see, the OP succeeded in getting the answer to his question. Therefore is suggesting that as an option a fail.

To be honest, I was looking for the same info as the OP and I found it easier with Google in the Elite wiki
Why is the wiki better structured than the official game manual? well, it beats me - but one potential answer is that it wasn't done by FDev
