What do you CMDRs think SpaceLegs weapons would look like?

Although a pair of years younger than the original game, I’ll take a brace of these, please:

Edit: ...and for the slug-thrower, at a pair of years older than the original game:

If it's up to me, we don't even have weapons during space legs. There's plenty of games out there where i can hold a gun and shoot at things. Which are dedicated to this gameplay and this gameplay only. And thus are optimized for this. Borderlands 3 just comes out. But i am sure, till we get space legs, there'll be another handful of new shooters on the marked, fully focused on just holding guns and shooting at things.

In the end, space legs are always a sub-aspect of ED. There's no way it can be on par to a tripple-A shooter out there. (If it would be, each and any tripple-A developer out there who up to now made a FPS was doing it terribly wrong. And i can't believe that they ALL are complete morons. ) Thus my personal hope for space legs is that they rather focus on "sideline" activities, providing social hubs, etc. While leaving the shooter aspect for those who can dedicate all their time and effort on that kind of gameplay.

I mean, what's the "best" that could happen? That space legs is "surprisingly good for being just part of such a big game". Which soon ends up as "but still not as good as PUBG/Fortnite/Borderland3, the newest version of call of duty, modern warfare or whatever still hits the market in the next year". And that's what would stick in the end: "not as good as ..." There's really no way how ED not loose here. So i think it's better to not even go that way.

Will we get firearms with Space Legs? Ray guns? Laser weapons a la Star Wars?

I personally think energy weapons with an overheating/cooling mechanic like the Mass Effect series would be interesting.

How do you think small arms would look in Elite Dangerous?
Copy-paste-scaled version of ships weapons in real FDEV style :p

I’m sort-of with you on this one; I’d hope any person-to-person combat would be “rare & meaningful” and not like the average shooter where you’re mowing down hundreds of mooks.

I’d hope for an experience more along the lines of, what do they call them these days, immersive sims? Hand weaponry would hopefully just be one tool at our disposal for the first-person segments.

I imagine them being non lethal. No amount of handwaving, telepresence, personal escape pods will explain character spawning after being shot in the face with plasma rifle. What I hate is how devs kinda shot themselves in a foot by trying to justify spawn mechanic with lore. It's some sort of magical capsule that can do a hyperspace jump to any point in the Galaxy. You can keep tons of metal in your pockets, but no flash drive with your exploration data. Why couldn't they just keep an inherently gamey mechanic just...gamey. Just say "yep, it's just a game. Characters respawn" . It's way better than absolutely hilarious explanation they give. And then fighters can be controlled remotely, but pilot is somehow still physically in it...They should just give up on this. Like a good lore in a video game, but not when it tries to explain basic gaming mechanics. It never works.

Bananagun.

Funfact: In the Amiga game 'Hired Guns,' you got the most powerful weapon in the game, the banana gun (looks like a silver banana) at the very start of the game. But it had limited shots and no way to reload or recharge it, so not many stored that weapon until it was really needed near the game's end. :)

First you have to have 'Space Legs'....
Some Players talk about them as a 'done thing' when we have absolutely no indication of what the 2020 expansion will bring.

As for PvP FPS in ED, a real recipe for disaster I should think, given that the PvP play in the main game is still poorly implemented and lacking any developer support apart from more ships, guns and engineering :)
