Depends on how good your pc is. My biggest zoo so far had ~50 species across 35ish habitats and it worked just fine and since i upgraded my pc for mh wilds runs beautifully

I can use them all, pretty much.So anyone got plans for the new animals?
Sadly none of the animals really fit into my current zoo, so they will probably have to wait for the next project
For my main zoo (Zoologischer Garten Wiesbach) that has been sorta on hold for a while, I did a giant Indian savannah habitat once that to this day only has Indian Rhino, Peafowl and Fallow Deer as stand-ins for other species. The blackbuck and nilgai will go into that habitat first thing I do in the game.
Right next to them I have a Water Buffalo habitat with a big wetlands area, and I think I'm going to swap the Père David's Deer in.
I have also built a binturong habitat once that I'm really proud of, but since I then decided to let the binturong share the sun bear habitat, I had no use for it anymore. It should work for the Tanuki. It's also right between the Takin/Markhor Highlands enclosure and my Red Panda habitat, so it should fit perfectly.
Another similar scenario: I have an Arctic Fox habitat right next to my European Badger habitat that is currently empty because I later did a Red Fox habitat where the Arctic foxes fit perfectly next to, so I have two habitats for them. I think redesigning it to have the Honey Badger next to its European relative might work.
And the Lion-Tailed Macaque can go right in my big Orangutan/Asian Otter exhibit, no changes needed.
So I actually can fit all of them in (we don't talk about the seventh species of the pack) without much work. Good thing my zoo is so Asian-centric. The Africa and South America sections will probably never be built because my PC might just explode if I do.
The lineup of the new pack slightly adjusted my plans for my sandbox project - I was originally going to make a Indian Savannah type habitat on my Asian monorail habitat loop with Indian rhino and water buffalo. But thinking of swapping the buffalo out for the nilgai and blackbuck, and then add in peafowl offspring from another part of the zoo. In the ‘classic’ section of my park that had a few basic habitats for different hoofstock, it was originally going to be a mixed species of red and fallow deer, which I think I’ll swap them for Pere David’s deer like the Bronx zoo does. Disclaimer: my entire project layout/species plan is based of the Bronx zoo, so I was excited to get more species they have on display currently
Super hard to say since there are so many factors in play.
Having the game calculate 20 monkeys or penguins in a 3d space with a climbing frame or water pool is gonna be more taxing on the performance than just one rhino on an empty field.
Piece count obviously also is a factor, heavy detailed builds are harder on the game than simple ones
Guests are a big factor aswell, closing the zoo makes a noticeable difference.
The ofcourse the definition of unplayable probably also is different for every player, some are fine with low fps and having to play on pause others are not

In one of the zoos I have Ring of Fire section (North Pacific Coast), that already houses both Japanese animals we have, so Tanuki could possibly fit there, but I'm still debating, that would make the the section overwhelmingly Japanese.
In the other zoo there are Indian animals in Realm of Prester John section (India, Arabia, Ethiopia) so maybe I could fit Macaque there, but Baboon is already present, and they have physical resemblances. I was wondering whether to have "Lion's Den" subsection in there, since RoPJ already has Lions and Baboon, so I can unite three maned animals together.
Interestingly Ratel would fit the theme perfectly as it's found in all three of those places. So, maybe?
Other animals for now have no obvious place in my zoos. Maybe in future Pere David's Deer can find home in Natural History Park.
I'm gonna build a zoo for the top 10 most hated PlanZo animals. But I need to get a proper list...

Funny thing is that I prefer the Artic wolf over the grey wolf and the bonobo over the chimpanzee.
Dall sheep tend to get a lot of flack, same with the proboscis monkey and saiga to a lesser extent
Yeah I've seen endless complaints about the size and some preferring the polar bear due to not as much issues with water. It's all the size requirements in franchise between these 2

They don't fit in my current zoo at all, because it's based on my travels and I've never been to south/east asia, but I really want to use them. I'm thinking of doing a mountain zoo after that. Oh I got an exciting plan for the new dlc, planning a northern India / western Nepal grassland based on the Shuklaphanta National park. Honey badger, blackbuck, Indian Rhino, bengal tiger and possibly some more, all in an Asian grassland / forest zone with some interesting theming.
I currently making ideas for "themed" areas, as I still can't seem to finish a normal sized zoo before I get bored and leave the project.
A small idea had was a Japanese area with Japanese macaque, red-crowned crane and the upcoming Japanese raccoon dog. But if I want to do that I really want to give it Japan vibes, so I think this project will be for a time I like to take a lot of time for research.
Also the blackbuck must be one of the animals I will build for. Thinking to combine it with Indian rhinoceros. And also exhibits for the striped hyena and honey badger. Including a big indoor part for the rhinoceros.

The poor gazelle... I would swap it for another bear, and maybe the bonobo for the okapi.
Personally, I love the gazelle, just it did see quite a lot of negativity especially from the forums.
Since I never build something for the America Pack (lol), I wanted to build a Zoo in the tropical South America. Since I am in Europe, I dont know what species are common, and which not. So, are there some species in Planet Zoo that are very very rare or completely absent in South American Zoos?
You want a zoo specifically built in South America? Or a zoo that has a South American section set in Europe?
