What does your partner think about you playing ED?

My other half says things like "Are you playing your Space Driving Game again?"
Totally this 😂
I also wear a baseball cap when playing for the head tracking device I use. My better half refers to this as my "space hat" ... as in "got your space hat on again have you?".
In truth she's very supportive tho (she knows I love it even if it's not her cup of tea). If she brings me a cup of tea while I'm playing she will often jokingly say something like "permission to come aboard".

I pay all our bills, I can do whatever I want with my spare time but I always make time for my partner.
If playing the game makes you happy then she should be happy for you and not belittling of your hobby

Mine scornes all video games, has for years.
She might have a point.
They are like the 1950s Devil's box, in the corner.

........................................................................................no wait!

Compared to some other hobbies I've had over the years this one is relatively cheap ;)

We are a family of gamers, my wife & I are achiever/explorers, my son is a PvPer & frankly a bit of a griefer, we regularly discuss tactics & trade entertaining tales of woe.

Although married, my wife suffers from MS. My time is very limited, but above all of this is "it's just a game" and should not be an excuse or a refuge to hide from life's reality.

Many of us, including myself do just that.

Total Play Time:
2 months 25 days 22 hours 27 minutes
divided by a start date of November 12, 2014 when my account in Elite was created.

I rarely play with my wife around and she's not into that kind of things (both games and space), although I took her on a trip to Hutton Orbital few years ago, which means she sat on the sofa next to the desk and we talked for an hour and a half. I explained briefly the game that run on my screen, but I'm no sure if she remembers anything about it.
Her knowledge of games I pay includes
"a game where you crucifed people" - Rome Total War, long time ago
"The game about making children" - Crusader Kings, because all she could hear from my room were cries of newlyborns and me, asking if she has any suggestions for another heir name
and Assassins Creed, because I took her on some virtual tours of famous places.
She also laughed a lot at the sounds of loud cavalry charges coming from my room when I played Napoleon Total War, but Elite is too quiet and visially uninteresting for her to take notice.

I'm single now so I can, and sometimes do, play ED all day, especially at the weekends when I don't usually have anything else better to do.

When I was with my ex (this was before ED came out) she didn't have a problem with me sitting at my pc playing Oolite during my spare time.

I'm 52 and have been playing Elite on and off since it came out in the 80's. I have no intention of stopping for anyone, and that includes any possible new woman that may come into my life.
