What European Animals are still demanded?

I thought pelicans were more inclined to fly than things like flamingos or peafowl. Maybe I just got lucky, but one time at a zoo I watched a Pelican basically fly across the exhibit... the feeders were out though, so maybe he felt the was extra incentive to fly?
If you hold them in aviaries then pelicans tend to fly more than flamingoes, that is true. But both types of birds are still more common in enclosures without top that are very similar in design (and sometimes housed together), pelicans just need more logs and such to sit on.

So if one is doable in a zoo game, both are.

Lol yeah. What's your thoughts on my mediterrainian pack odea quell.
Honestly, it's pretty good:
  • Boar is perfect for Europe
  • Barbary ape/macaque is a nice primate and brings back some ZT2 nostalgia
  • White stork is a pretty bird and would be the 1st stork
  • Porcupine would be extremely popular

For an exhibit animal, maybe a horseshoe bat?

I'd love many more European animals, but most pressing are:

Wild boar
Wisent

The last staple of European forests and the largest European animal brought back from the brink of extinction.

All other animals to me would be nice, but my game is fine without them.

My most wanted European animal, is of course a pelican (I want it so bad, that it even could be a non-European species). A close second, is the European rabbit. On the third place comes the wild boar, and after that other kind of birds, which wouldn't need an aviary mechanic.

I thibk there's a few good slots there still, but only a couple of them aren't overlapping significantly with extant choices.

  • Wild Boar
  • Walrus
  • Musk Ox
  • Wolverine
  • Pine or Beech Marten
  • Crested Porcupine
  • Golden Jackal
  • White or Black Stork
  • Chamois
  • Hedgehog sp.
  • Polecat
  • Marmot sp.
  • Saiga
  • Raccoon Dog (introduced)
  • Great White or Dalmatian Pelican
  • Glossy or Northern Bald Ibis

I do also think Snowy Owl is an essentially mandatory aviary addition, and we need a bunch of ducks/swans/geese.

I'm so happy that people finally learned that we do have animals in Europe ❤️

Regarding the question "What European Animals are still demanded?'", I want all of them, so I guess the answer is "all" 🤣

But I will think of a more detailed answer and specify which animals I really want very soon.

For me are just a few:

1. Wild boar (i think this is the one that is missing to trully have an European roster that feels complete)
2. Capercaillie (cuz bird, plus is a pretty iconic european bird and it also doesn't need flying animations)
3. Highland cattle (the only domestic animal, other than the dromedary, that i really would like to see in the game. Not a priority, but i would not be mad if included in the future)
4. Chamois and mouflon (two other caprines from Europe, although not a priority since i prefer to get a musk ox, takin or markhor over these two)
5. Mute swan (we need waterfowl, and swans would be such a great addition to the game)
6. Wolverine (THE animal that i feel is missing from the whole northern hemisphere, so a must have at some point; also points for covering Europe, Asia and NA)

An animal i'm torn about is the wisent. It would be great because of its conservation value and story and has an important role in european ecology, but honestly i would be pretty ed if we get this animal over other more unique ones.

Then there are animals that i think are just pretty much reskins of already existing animals in the game and that i think would be wasting a slot in future packs of the limited number we have left, so i don't want them in the game (at least not now that we are thinking end of support by next year): eurasian beaver, otter, wolf and brown bear, and iberian lynx.

A lot of people are also asking for the barbary macaque but other than the unique biome and being the only primate that has some range in Europe, i don't really find it very interesting. There are other macaques (or primates) that are more unique (even in terms of biome) that deserve to be in the game over the barbary macaque.

A marten or ermine would be nice, but out of the "weasels" my top choice is the black footed ferret from NA.

I will not be mad about getting a genet though, but again, civets are a higher priority for me.

Oh and also, ducks.

Interesting how so many people are saying Wild Boar... particularly because the species can be found all across Eurasia and can vary heavily between subspecies; a generic Wild Boar would not reflect the entire species.

While true, the wild boar would benefit from the generalisation, as luckily the most iconic and by far most common in captivity central european wild boar is pretty much the perfect melting pot of all of its features. The boar subspecies can generally devided by the amount of mane, lenght of mane, size, how developed the white mouth bands are, if they have a high or flat skull and lastly the indonesian subspecies are uniquly less intelligent.
The central european wild boar features a large size, with smaller subspecies being able to be represented through lower size genes. Only 3 of the 16 subspecies, the indian, formosan and the banded pig, look significantly different to the general wildboar do to their lack of hair, the indians strongly devolped mane and the fact that the banded pig is so different that its argues to even be a different species all together.
The different size genes and a few different color morphs, mainly a white banded and an light brown to olive furred one would sufficently cover 13 of its subspecies, with only mane differences left. Luckily, most of these subspecies actually either do not have manes or only really small ones, so the small to non existent (depending on individual) mane of the central european wild boar would fit most of them good enough.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; you cannot reasonably make a realistic European section for a European Zoo with the current roster we have.
Without the Eurasian Brown Bear, building a European section in a European Zoo is next to impossible. They are absolute staples of European Zoos. I understand you can use stand ins but it really isn’t the same. I’ve come to terms with the fact though that we will probably never get the EBB now. (Damn the HBB for what it took away from us!!!)
Moving on from that, I think the animals we need the most to build a European section are:
• Wild Boar
• Wolverine
• Wisent
These three are the final LIKELY animals that I believe would mean we are able to build reasonable European sections. With them, I’d feel as close to satisfied as possible (without the bear) that I can be.
Other animals from Europe that I believe would be great for the game are:
• Muskox
• Scottish Highland Cattle
• Shetland Pony
• European Hedgehog
• Eurasian Red Squirrel
• European Pine Marten/Beech Marten
• Chamois
(Note: Crested Porcupine not included due to it’s greater association with the African continent)
So whilst Europe will never be COMPLETE without the Eurasian Brown Bear, we can close to complete it by bringing in a Wild Boar, Wolverine and Wisent and further flesh it out by introducing some of the other listed animals.

Ok, here I come.

Being from Spain and living in Finland has allowed me to learn about the big biodiversity of Europe. The Iberian peninsula and the Nordic countries still have lots of wildlife. People tend to forget that, so here I am with a big list of European animals I would like to have in the game. Of course, for obvious reasons, most of these animals are also found in Africa and Asia, and some in North America, but that doesn't make them less valuable, on the contrary, they are better additions since they can be used in many areas.

The first group includes the absolute must-have animals:
  • Wild boar
  • Wolverine (when you live in the Nordics, this animal is so European as the hippo is African)
  • White stork
  • Alpine marmot (we don't have a very small cold animal. It would be a nice counterpart to meerkats and prairie dogs too).

Then we have the other must-have which are also European although the majority of their range falls in other continents:
  • Great white pelican
  • Walrus
  • Crested porcupine

The game needs more primates and the Barbary macaque is such a special animal, being the only one living in Europe. It would be a nice anniversary animal since it wouldn't require much work using the Japanese macaque.

European rivers aren't well represented in the game, we only have a newt. I want the Eurasian otter because we need a cold tolerant otter (and solitary). The European mink is endangered and they are becoming more common in European zoos. It would be a good option. Estonia is the leading country in their conservation program.

Then we have the "clones". The Iberian lynx and especially the European bison would be nice inclusions because of their conservation history and bearing in mind that Frontier usually gives us one of those.

Then we have the small critters, like the pine marten, European wild cat, European hedgehog and European rabbit. These animals would bring a new kind of animal that we don't have yet in game, although I admit they are not my priority.

For caprines, the muskox has been reintroduced to Europe, so I guess it is valid to include them here too. The European mouflon is good (but I need Asian and African goats first).

Swans and ducks are always common in Europe, so they also deserve a place on the list.

We don't have any European reptile, so I really want a European tortoise, preferably Greek tortoise. We could also get a Mediterranean chameleon, but I think other species are more likely. The reptile section has however the only European animal I DON'T want: snakes we don't need any European snake. Let me lie to myself and think we don't have any of those crawling things around here.

Finally, we have the two big mistakes Frontier did. The timber wolf should be split into Mackenzie wolf and Eurasian wolf. I know the idea is to represent the cold biome wolves, but with the arrival of the arctic wolf and the dingo later it just doesn't make sense. It's like having the African wildebeest, the African zebra or the Australian wallaby. That doesn't exist.

The other big unforgivable mistake is the brown bear. We should have had a general brown bear or a grizzly and a Eurasian Brown bear. The Himalayan brown bear is the worst choice in the game history. Eurasian brown bears are very common in European zoos and one of the most iconic animals in our culture. Even worse is that the base game only had a flamingo and a confusing wolf as European animals, but three Asian bears. People say we can pretend the HBB is the Eurasian. If we had gotten the HBB and the Eurasian brown bear, but not grizzly bear, I'm sure many of those people wouldn't be happy pretending the HBB is the grizzly bear. The Eurasian brown bear should be added to the game, either as a free animal, or as single animal for purchase for 1 or 2€.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks to Frontier for giving Europe the love it deserves. We've come far from the 2 animals and 0 exhibits, but there's still a long path to walk together.

I'm kinda interested in this eurasian brown bear talk, but if that's the case, surely we would also need Eurasian Wolf under the same theory?
