Hardware & Technical What exactly is the difference between a regular X52 & the Pro?

Not very much when it comes to Elite.

Imps like the blue lights on the standard version. You can have red/orange/green lights on the Pro, different springs.

The Pro has more sensors for reading axis values which supposedly makes it more precise; I'm not sure if that's more than marketing babble though. It does have a "metal shaft" which I can confirm really exists, but it's just an aluminium tube between the stick and the base which means it will bend instead of break when you get angry ;)

It does not have better software, more reliable connectors, nor functional internal power management, so good luck whichever one you have.

Yeah, I didn't think "upgrading" from the standard I already use & love to a Pro would be worth it.

This thread confirms my suspicions.

Pro also has metal parts inside, where the base model has plastic. This is why the base model tends to have to be replaced more often because things snap.

The main difference, the PRO has 2 hall sensors for X- and Y- Axis, to eliminate the non linearity of them.
The metal shaft and the double spring system.

Is that LCD display useful in ED? I've always wondered about that.
No. The LCD will only work at the best of times anyway, IME it's just a (flickering) waste of power.

(edit) In case you want a less vitriolic answer, the LCD has relatively low contrast and is about as far from a head-up display as possible since it's sitting way down left, so if you want any info from it, you will have to look quite far away from the screen. Matters get worse when you start looking into mounting options like the MonsterTech table clamps (which I recommend if you can spring the price) since the display will then be even further down and possibly covered by your arm or hand. It's not a perfect or even good solution.

Especially Elite will stuff most information on the screen anyway, and doesn't have much in terms of data export to drive external devices apart from log trackers.

So back to the TL;DR: still no.
