What game aren't we all playing because of E:D?

We've had the other thread for a long time, but it doesn't take into account the games we are missing out on playing due to ED!

I haven't played Ark in months. Paladins in half a year or more.

Subnautica i've only a got a few hours in.

ETS2 is shelved.

And now my son want's us to get Scrap Mechanic and play together.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/387990/Scrap_Mechanic/

Damn you ED!!!!!

You need to land on that Earth Like World and do missions using scrap mechanical components to save your son and provide him with a future.
Reward: 5.000.000.000.000.000.00000000000000000000000000000000 credits.

And it looks FUN! No nerfs and plenty of boosters. Well worth game time. And a happy Parent and Son.

Frontier Developments: If you are reading this. Please make it so that when we go too close to an Earth Like World in Elite Dangerous, steam automatically close Elite and starts a game like Scrap mechanic instead (make a custom script setting option), just as if we made planetfall. And when we close that game, elite resumes from its previous position.

Isn't that a BRILLIANT idea?

Maybe make a small transitional launcher in between that seamlessly looks like we are going through the atmosphere and clouds, rain and stuff. Since you guys really love loaders and such intermissions. And resuming Elite after game closes we see how we go up again into space.

Elite Dangerous could be the GATEWAY to ALL games in the universe.

Before I fell into ED, I played SWTOR almost as viciously. Now, thanks to Elite, I haven't basically touched it for years (though my subscription is still running "because I could return to it at any moment" :D) I played maybe 100 hours in last three years, haven't even finished the Eternal Throne with my main character. :(

I did take a week-long break from Elite to play Subnautica and I thoroughly loved it, yet, despite my plan to play it much more, here I am, back in the Chieftain.

I am also neglecting World of Warships and Eurotruck sim 2 quite shamefully, and although I still play Dragon Age: Inquisition on occasion, it's only on those occasions where I know I don't have enough time for a proper Elite session.

Elite is cancer. :D

Ah. I've got a different take on the OP question:

I don't play / am interested in MP games anymore that have some sort of common shared world and MMO-ish features. The tradeoff of unwanted mechanics, crap balance vs gameplay I like and prefer isn't worth the investment. ED taught quite well that a MP shared world isn't really good SP content. And also, if you're handed some crap mechanics you don't like you're pretty much screwed since it's basically cheating to mod a MP game.
So I'm off to SP games now, for the most part. Or dedicated MP that has proper balance and no time-eaters.

Then you need the other thread which exists for what games you are playing instead of ED.

Any in particular?

I'm quite sure I'd have looked at Hellion if it wasn't for ED and DayZ. Then there's Destiny and Division. And while I in general enjoyed running through two storylines in SWTOR and play a bit MP in the game I wouldn't invest my time in any MMO anymore. I'd just hate to be screwed over by some mechanics.

Ah, Hellion, yes, that might just be one that i might have taken a look at if it wasn't for ED.

I would love to spend time getting the hang of "Rome: Total War 2" but available time doesn't permit alas.

Chaos Reborn is another that I keep dipping into.

Let's see...

Still haven't finished Fallout 4, and now I have it in VR!
Subnautica has sunk down my priority list again.
Xenonaughts has been on hold for at least eight months.
One of these days, I really should get back to Recettear.
Can't remember the last time I played Minecraft.
The Queen is still has not yet lived long.
Civilization V is stuck in the stone age.
Don't Starve is on a diet.
I probably still have about $100 in unspent Mechwarrior Credits in Mechwarrior Online... which I haven't played since the ED Alpha, come to think of it.
ONE of these days, I should play Skyrim, The Last of Us, and ... and... some other I game I can't remember... OH! Tomb Raider, all of which I bought for my PS3 during a Black Friday sale.

As far as other media is concerned: I need to get caught up with watching Star Wars Rebels, Doctor Who, RWBY, Sailor Moon Crystal, I still haven't seen the Black Panther movie (last week sucked!), still haven't finished To the Stars (huge spoiler warning for Puella Magi Madoka Magica, watch the series first before reading the story... seriously), I'm sure I'm missing out on quite a few "must see" shows and movies.

I don't play many games to begin with - but games I used to play a lot, that gets replaced with Elite are:

  • DCS A-10c (not to mention all the new modules!)
  • Planetside 2
  • Elder Scrolls Online
  • Skyrim (although mostly due to me waiting for the multiplayer mod)
  • Witcher 3 (still haven't completed 1/4 of it)

Planetside 2 should technically be the easiest for quick log-in/log-off PvP air combat, but it doesn't help that my friends stopped playing it. [haha]
We used to fly multicrew air-to-ground and air-to-air, and there's no way I'm gonna fly with random people.

Forza Horizon 3 and DC Universe Online.....
having said that after having watched Black Panther ( and loved it by the way ) I reinstalled DCUO and created a new avatar
' Bullet Man '. During the character creation process I noticed a few new ' super powers' that had been added to the game since I had become addicted to ED,
resulting in me recreating Marvels 'Jack of Hearts' ( might also recreate/clone Marvels 'Quasar' )
....but having looked at Navigare Est's comments on other MMO's I am thinking/asking myself ' Do I really wanna get into a game that makes me feel .... kinda....well.... pointless and designed to make me spend more money than I should have ta !

I did restart a playthrough of FO4 a few days ago, but having decided this was going to be a Minuteman playthrough found I had little stomach for after hearing "I'll mark it on your map", yet again.

Beagle Point beckons assuming I make it back to the Bubble in one piece, in my somewhat dented AspX!

Have done a Brotherhood of Steel playthrough? I recently did one in FO4 VR. The BoS are a bunch of fascists. Felt dirty. "I was just following orders," will be my defense for all the awful things I did.

iRacing. Heck, I even built racing cockpit with motorized feedback, shakers, hydraulic brakes, mfd displays, real gauges, buttonboxes and all. Then came ED. To be honest RL stuff has changed since, but ED basically replaced iRacing as my "go to" game. Now I play other space games too, like NMS, Evochron Legacy etc., but if I really have few hours straight to spare, I start ED.

I also used to be an avid racer, even though with much less serious setup: PS3 and the simcade Gran Turismo, still I was in a racing community and had steering wheel, seat, etc...

I used to love racing in GTA as well, and I would do some light-hearted racing, but ranking up again and getting into it again after switching platform is a 'meh'.

Elite pretty much makes me avoid any complicated games I'm unfamiliar with. I'm not playing Endless Space, refunded Harts of Iron IV, I still haven't finished the Lucasarts point-and-click classics, etc..
Having said that I'm at low with Elite exploration, but that just motivates me to get back to the bubble, the game has changed a lot since November!

I've just move to a bigger desk and took my daughter's old steering wheel. Unfortunately it has no drivers for modern OSes. Been trying to get something working, but not even sure their 64-bit vista driver is compatible... looks not so far.

However, windows does recognize is as a generic... so might have some luck using it for the SRV. Plenty of buttons on it.
