What game would you most like to see given a modern remake?

Loved Hardwar! That game prompted me to build my first ever fansite for a computer game (now defunct). It was basically Elite/Frontier, but on a claustrophic & dank planet (yes, I know it's a moon not a planet), and brilliantly done for the time.

If there was ever a chance for a remake or a remaster (or Hardwar 2) then sign me up to that Kickstarter pronto!

After having a look on my laptop HDD, I’m going to suggest Star Trek 25th Anniversary & Judgement Rites - but done in the art style of the early 70’s Animated Series.

Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity I’d like to see given a full modern make-over with detailed, realistic looking scenes, and the starship combat & navigation given a reworking (there are the makings of a really in-depth combat system there, but in the end it was just simpler to click on Worf Do It).

  • Dark Forces
I live in hope that whoever holds the rights has seen this and is thinking, “hmmm, perhaps we should do the full game...“ (familiar scenes from 2:18 onwards)

Edit: If you’ve ever played the DarkXL mod which got Dark Forces slightly prettied-up and working on modern machines, but sadly had a few bugs and was seemingly abandoned about 9 years ago - the modder has very recently reappeared on the Daggerfall Unity forums and sounds like they’re keen to revisit Dark Forces & Outlaws.

I don't think I'd want a remake but rather a new game. The recent thief was flashy and dandy, but it's like modern Hollywood product - it just lacked the flair and atmo of olde gameplay.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love a new game but after dealing with the travesty of the recent one I'd rather they remade the original

I found it entertaining enough the first time. But on the second PT I quickly realised I couldn't be bothered for another. It's made for looks, like so many other AAA games. And that's about it.

Personally, I find Thief 2 superior in pretty much every way. Still the same game but with more city, less zombies, fantastic level design, plenty of heists, the rooftop run...

Total War Empire remake. The scope and time period was perfect. All of the world accessible as provinces ala Eu4 would be sweet. More stability, better ai and less wonkiness.

Oh god, the siege battles were such a letdown. Especially after Medieval 2 TW. They still didnt catch up on sieges after all that time. The old engine just did that better I guess. But yes, FotS (DLC to Shogun 2) was great fun with gunpowder and ironclads.

Quarantine was fun. The mission based sequel wasn't as entertaining though. But if I have to wish for a car-based remake, I'll go with Interstate '76.

Yes - oddly enough that's two series where the sequel wasn't as good as the first one. The second Quarantine was simply not as good. Interstate 76 was brilliant (although the graphics haven't stood the test of time). I still have the soundtrack on my MP3 player and listen to it in the car now-and-then when in a funky mood. Interstate '82 was significantly dumbed down and less involved than "'76". I think I played it briefly but didn't purchase. I think it suffered from someone trying to make it more "accessible" and trying to add "new" to it. Whereas maybe adding different weapons, cars and environments and just a few gameplay tweaks would have done it.

System Shock. And Dungeon Keeper.

:D S

Well, you shall be heard:

There's even a very early playable demo:

As for "System Shock 3", which i also have seen mentioned in this thread, be very very careful about that one.
Yes, it will be made by OtherSide Entertainment, who're basically a reboot of (dare i say legendary) Looking Glass Studios, including Warren Spector and Paul Neurath,
Creators of the original "System Shock", "Thief" and "Ultima Underworld".
However, their spiritual successor to "Ultima Underworld", a game called "Underworld Ascendant", turned out to be an abysmal mess which has been all but abandoned.
It pains me to say this, but i hold no hope for SS3 whatsoever.

Growing up with the original playstation and N64, I would love to see some resurgence to these titles.

• Ape escape trilogy: I would love a crash-n-sane trilogy and spyro reignited trilogy to this game. It will be a blast to play them again as only the 2nd title is available to purchase on the psn.
• Klonoa 1+2: This one did get a remake in the form of the wii release, but I would love to see that and the sequel get a game to come out to modern systems.
• Banjo and Kazooie and Banjo Tooie: I think they need some love outside of porting their old N64 games to modern hardware.
• Super Monkey Ball 1+2: These games were really awesome for the arcade levels of precision and difficulty, would love to see these 2 get a modern treatment.
• F-zero: This is just sad that there is no new F-zero game since the gamecube. Wipeout and fast RMX are fun, but F-zero would have a lot more character.
• Sin and Punishment: Not only are they fun titles, but even the original is a japanese exclusive, would be great to have it be more widespread.
• Super Mario Sunshine: The game is fun, but it becomes terrible if you want to 100% it like other mario platformers, a tidy up would be greatly appreciated.

Surely the world is finally ready! I was a bit frightened of this game as a child, it had a fever dream quality.

I'd love a nice tactical Star Trek/Bridge Commander/Star Fleet Battles thing, tho. Crossed with the recent VR game and with mod support n' mission editor.

OOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Do you know what would be an awesome remake?
Eternal Darkness!

It could be an awesome horror game that utilizes all the modern tech we have now compared to back then.
