What game would you most like to see given a modern remake?

Go and google "Shadow of the Eternals" if you want to be sad.
Just did, I am now indeed very sad.
I also read the second comment of the trailer video saying how "as long as it still comes to the wii U". That was hilarious.
Is it in development or in limbo? I really wish not to see it share the same fate as Duke Nukem Forever.

Last bit of info I was able to gather is it's "not canceled," but is on hold more or less indefinitely and not in active development. The project was hit by a lot of misfortune all at around the same time: the crowdfunding failed, there was I think a countersuit from Epic games over unreal engine, and Kotaku ran a bunch of hit pieces on Denis Dyack which made him out to be essentially a grifter and complete piece of garbage; which is now something that gets brought up and posted everywhere anytime he surfaces in the news, so yeah realistically I don't know if anything will ever happen with this.

He's supposedly working on a different game right now; Deadhaus Sonata; which is going to be more or less a remake of the PS1 Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain using Dark Souls as the overall design template (as opposed to top-down Zelda games being the template for the original). Don't know how likely this one is to come out, either. Plus it's supposed to be a multiplayer F2P game I think so I don't see how it could possibly turn out good. Here's hoping it launches, turns out to be a big success, and provides the funds to eventually finish Shadow of the Eternals; because I don't think it's likely that any external publishers or investors are likely to ever put up the necessary budget to make the game happen.

I hope so too, in this day and age where bubsy could get a remake/reboot, I think this won't be an impossible task. I am sorry for the turn of events, but it at least means that if it will come to fruition, that it will be made with the latest specs and consoles in mind.

To be fair though, Denis Dyack is made of the same dought as Chris Roberts. He just doesn't have a multi-million PR and marketing department to cover him.
And they share their ability to come up with awesome ideas while being unable to manage their actual conception.

The main criticism I've seen leveled at Dyack is that he's lazy, a procrastinator, and/or distracted. Not that he's overly ambitious or promises the moon with no intention or pathway towards delivering, which is how Roberts and before that, Molyneux, are generally characterized. I think that even if you take the worst characterizations of each of these designers at face value, you would have to arrive at very different pictures of Dyack vs Roberts.

The thing both designers have in common, I suppose, is a reputation for dragging and delaying their projects on and on forever until an outside party forces them to finish; but with Roberts the issue was always scope creep and continually ratcheting up the feature list, while Dyack has never been accused of anything like this - in his case it simply comes down to mismanagement, poor work ethic, maaaaybe some perfectionistic impulses here and there, and if you believe the worst of the accusations, outright fraud by siphoning off resources from their paid gigs to produce personal side projects.

Everything that people love (and hate) about Dyack as a designer has to do with his personal sensibilities and attitude towards storytelling, world building, and game design. None of his games have been presented as pushing the boundaries of what is technologically possible, or as reaching heretofore unseen heights in production values or game size. It's always been about how amazingly unique and convention-breaking his worldbuilding and play mechanic ideas supposedly are; which, y'know there's plenty of room for discussion as to whether "I read Nietzsche, Lovecraft, and a history book once" counts as a particularly singular authorial voice in the games industry, but I think it's a fundamentally different discussion from the one around Roberts.

Gunship 2000 and F117 Nighthawk were two old favourites on my Amiga. I also liked Combat Lynx on my Amstrad - there was something about shuttling teams of squaddies around that was quite fun.

This is the only one in the series I ever really liked.
Same. It's also the only one Silicon Knights actually worked on, IIRC. I will admit I was super-impressed by the seamless morphing between parallel worlds (as opposed to fade in/out like in Ocarina of Time) in Soul Reaver back when it came out, though.

Seeing the Mafia trilogy get a facelift has reminded me of the original Godfather game...loved it on the Xbox, would love a remake for PC.

Instead of remaking the good games of the past, why not remake the bad ones? And do a good job this time around. :)
Great idea in theory. The problem is the amazing business geniuses don't believe they can sell anything that doesn't already have brand recognition. Makes you wonder how any one managed before stuff was famous.

Yeah the whole new system where "only established franchises have a chance of success" and the head honchos refuse to take any risks really gets on my nerves.

The original Wizardry series. But make it PC instead of mac this time. I'd also like to see a remake of the original Far Cry game. I still play this occasionally.
