What GPU you are crashing in RES with? GTX970.

I have 2x780gtx running in SLI. Over 2 years old now and still bringing it. Most games dont run SLI and Win 10 and Direct X 12 is still not installed. Elite runs smooth on my setup, mostly over 100 frames per second on highest graphics, maybe down to 50 on planets, well I dont remember the details.

Let's bump up the low side some. Got an old Radeon HD 5770 still chugging along, even for Horizons. Had to bump the terrain detail down, but still very playable frame rates on the ground.

R9 390 8Gb and I love it. I get to use 4.3Gb VRAM when playing Elite

I just read your post and wondered how Elite could possibly need that much memory from the graphics card.

And so I checked my usage in GPU-z and found that with my settings my R9 290 climbing upwards of 3.8 GB's

Hmmmmmm,,,,,,,

Maybe I have another reason to upgrade?
