Powerplay what happened to those distant Antal systems?

I've been gone from the game for a while, and upon my return, I noticed the distant systems (heading towards the Pleides) were gone.

After doing some searching in the galnet news and these forums, I just couldn't find the explanation.

Now I am burning with curiosity.... what happened? an attack? Revoked? Deleted? Abandoned?

Only systems I know of in that direction are the Sirius Corp stations

HIP - 8396 (stepping Stone)
Takura (Foothold Orbital)
Almagest (Sirius reach)
Robigo (Robigo mines)
Ceos (New Dawn)
Sothis (Newholm)

You mean whole systems gone, or previously populated systems now empty?

well, I never did memorize the system names (the problem with procedural gibberish system naming), but they used to be PowerPlay control systems- the exploitation area blob making them rather obvious in galaxy map.

Now, those blobs are gone, and the system population seems to be gone as well (seen by moving population max slider all the way down to make ANY population be a big dot) moving this way and that, nothing )no blobs= no population, no color = no economy)

It was kind of neat seeing humanity "striking out" from the "bubble" But I realized such far flung areas would be hard to keep running (the way to support the system (long range hauling) would be easily countered by opposition simply staying in system causing trouble)

Mate, the systems are still there, they are just no longer controlled. Check my first post, I used to wonder why people in Powerplay would bother with those systems.

The forces of Utopia "purged" those systems who didn't quite make the standard over the last two weeks so they no longer control certain systems.
Utopia was able to remove 7 of these systems during this period and now have a healthy Powerplay CC balance.

I believe it was done as a test to see how Humanity might embrace the ideals of the Utopian vision.
It seems not all were successful.

This happened:

Enforcer Zaan looked down at the broken figure before him. In another lifetime, he would have called this filth brother.

The dissident coughed, and flecks of bloodied saliva span through the air. Cold fury radiated from the Enforcer as he washed the blood from his hands in a small bowl. Contempt permeated his voice as he passed sentence on the prisoner.

"Administrator Frey, you, along with your many associates have been found guilty of slave trading, social perversion and gross misconduct. You have wilfully undermined several systems within Utopian space for your own selfish desires: HR 17, Ahemez, Cao Yankir, Kaurukat, Minerva, Xi :):):):) Mu and our science station at Takurua. They have fallen due to your collective moral corruption."

Frey's head slumped forwards as he heard Zaan speak. All resistance left his body as he finally understood his fate.

"Utopian laws dictate we legally process those who deviate from the Path, showing empathy and mercy. It is my opinion you are beyond such help and have been irrevocably tainted. You and your accomplices will be taken from Utopia and cast into the abyss, to experience first hand the depravity of galactic civilisation as a thrall of others. Your Sim Archive patterns will be deleted, and your Utopian life expunged. Your contamination ends now."

Zaan leant forwards and whispered in Freys ear.

"Such is the fate of all traitors".

Light and Shadow

After successfully removing dissident elements, elite Enforcer units have returned to bases across Utopia after their mass deployment earlier last week.

Although unavailable for direct comment due to an injured hand, Moral Enforcer Zaan released a pre-prepared statement to galactic news channels:

“Through extensive planning and with surgical precision we have accomplished our goals, the complete removal of systems and people who sought to destroy Utopia from within. Although the agent’s names, identities and methods must remain secret, be assured these operatives have saved Utopia from decay and ruin. We must now look to the future, and use our renewed vigour to spread enlightenment as push the frontiers of human progress.”

The Last and the First

Utopian officials have revealed details of the epic record breaking struggle to save the deep space commune of Takurua. Controversial since its inception, Takurua has been subject to many destructive attacks due to its remote location on the edge of known space.

Throughout last week brave commanders flew hundreds of missions spanning tens of thousands of light years to counter dissident revolts. Each shipment was a perilous undertaking, but despite these incalculable odds Utopian pilots aided by Sirius Inc. courageously battled into the dying hours to save the commune from destruction.

Tragically, on Thursday morning a complete evacuation was ordered as dissidents broke through perimeter defences, and the first deep space commune was consumed by rioting as the last transports took off from Gia Long St aboard Foothold Orbital.

Despite this bitter blow, plans are being drawn up for further deep space communes to further push the frontiers of knowledge and understanding. One evacuated scientist stated “the light of Utopia shall return to the darkness.”

(were those galnet news articles? or fan fiction?- either way; awesome!)

Yep still there. not quite in the direction I had thought.

So; in the end, they just got undermined and left to the wolves?

regardless, it makes me wonder: was their genesis purely player created? if so- why don't others strike our and purposely form new colonies Out There?

This was one of the dreams in FDD: player driven expansion of Human Space, afterall.

Can't speak on behalf of Utopia so I'll leave it up to them to do their thing.
With regards long distance expansions, they really need a dedicated force of fortifiers to be valid and as there aren't really enough populated systems out that far yet, trying to make it work with PP was probably never gonna work unless it had something that made the system really valuable which would overshadow the overheads regarding the non-populated systems.
That's not to say that systems shouldn't be able to evolve over time and stations pop up in systems where they are valid. How FD can work that I don't really know but it would be cool if it it happened.
Also, there's a station going out to the Pleides Nebula if you're unaware. Was a series of CG's not long finished so Humanity is expanding.

I'll give you as much of the details as possible but I have to dash for! Stay tuned :) It's all very exciting

Because we are more than number crunchers. We have imaginations and the skills to do what no other power has been able to and now many seek to mimic our achievement. And i say good for them :)

Utopia is the only power to actually try and eventually hold such a system. In the end what happened was our old systems holding back expansion, so we got rid of them to start again.
