What has FD got right in the game?

1. I can do whatever I want . Possibility to improvise all the time so the road is always fraught with challenges and surprises. When I play, i can play relax or if I'm in a good shape and want a shoot of adrenalin , I can provoc some actions. 2. The sens of the liberty is awesome. 3. The background story with aliens things is also great. 4. The best is the excellent work and support from FD, ( and of course from community, ) so we have constant and stable evolution of the game . 5. Flight and ground mechanics is fantastic. 6. Graphics , sound effect, music and "Eve things" always improve. 7. The system map work great. 8. VR compatibility is one of the best in the market. And the list goes on and on. Can't wait the next seasons, atmospheric flight , aliens animals etc.

Its easyer to note what is wrong with the game, cause that list would be allot shorter..

Let's try:
Good:
1. Graphics. (awesome)
2. Sound (awesome)
3. Flight (nerfed for MP but good enough)
4. Combat (preferred the originals but good enough)

Bad:
1. Gameplay (most of the original titles gameplay was much better)

Ahhh..... I think you're right, who cares about gameplay.

The real(ish) galaxy, the sound, the ships, the flying, the driving, the visuals, the stars, the stations, the outposts, the starports, the planets, all these are excellent.

Seeing a distant dot become a full-sized 1:1 scale planet on approach is something I never get tired of seeing.

TL; DR; The "game world" is very, very good.

Audio
Flight model
Social filters (open, private groups, solo)
Insurance system
Graphics/Visuals (mostly)

SuperCruise: This is an underrated mechanic. It really pushes the sense of scale of stellar systems. The chore of going to far off locations like Hutton, creates a barrier to entry and a sense of achievement about arriving. It means that systems with resources close in get hammered and stations that are 100,000 Ls out can be low traffic hideouts.
The mix of convenience, and difficulty is so right that no-one even notices it.

Scale: 'nuff said on this topic. Well done.

Sound: I got a pair of Genelecs and a Sub. The Disco scanner goes all the way into the depths like a big ship.

Voices: The cultural specifics of each of the accents. The way each Major Faction has its own Flight controllers. As you rank up with them, they treat you with less hostility, and are more welcoming. I love hearing the soon to-be-leaving Flight Controller getting snippy and more terse as we're thumping their faction down, and my heart leaps when Melanie the Alliance Flight Controlller greets me from a station that was another faction until yesterday.

BGS nuts - love it.
Stellar Forge uh I can't even.

Existential Angst: I love it when I see posts by CMDRs "I've got billions and all the ships and now I feel empty and there's nothing to do". Also when I see posts where they are coming to terms that the universe doesn't care about them. "Why do other CMDRs get to do that stuff?" Elite is one of the few games that really bring out the persona of the players. There are ethical choices to be made. You are forced to face your insignificance in an uncaring universe. You CAN be a hero - but you have to actually BE a hero.
