No major spoilers please. I heard there were aliens now. Just wondering if anything major has changed that I should know about. I mostly trade and explore. Any new ship upgrades for the Python, etc?

They upgraded the Python: it's now called the Krait Mk 2!
2 alien races: Thargoids and Guardians, tho the Guardians are gone (but they left some cool stuff behind). Mining's had some new stuff added so it's possible to make 100's of millions of credits in one session. There's a noob zone and new noob tutorials. Already mentioned the Python has been upgraded to the Krait Mk2 and Krait Phantom, both of which are much improved versions of the Python.
You can land on planets now, and engineer your ship so it's way better.

And exploration has had a revamp. Btw, gankers now have uber engineered ships, so you may want to stick to solo or pg mode until you've engineered your ship enough to survive a gank!
They've added little arrows to the HUD velocity indicator, so you know if you are flying forwards or backwards I hope that's not too much of a spoiler.

And welcome back .... if you are an original backer or a lifetime expansion pass owner, you might find you own quite a few new paint jobs for ships.

Other very cool addition to the Elite universe: all kinds of (non intelligent) vacuum-lifeforms can now be found all over the place. Some of them react to you.
