What have you done FD, exploration is ruined with this garbage.

IIRC they communicated a lot about the FSS changes.
Did they? I know they did a livestream about it, but I don't remember much open discussion prior to its implementation.

To be fair though if you look at what they've actually done it incorporates lots of the suggestions that got thrown up on the forums over the years - probes for scanning plannets, a more involved scanning mechanism...

Pretty much. Thank goodness other game studios have devs that still care that will gladly take my money. Plus the lack of devs communicating on this issue for PR control one way or the other is even worse. We don't even get the decency of a PR statement spiel to try and placate us, instead just silence... on an issue even bigger than the Powerplay one.

I find it funny I can't find any of your post criticizing FSS in the beta stage, giving feedback when it really mattered.
I'm sorry someone turned off your magical one-button-reveals-all feature that had nothing to do with exploration, and even from a mapping point of view was simplistic at best.

The least you could do is consider for a second your point of view is not the only one out there, and a lot of people content with the new mechanic have an equally valid saying.
Maybe then tone of your post would be more on par with civilized discussion than a temper tantrum.

In fairness, the amount of button presses is now, extreme not to mention stupid GUI ergonomics. A few Examples;

Module Targeting; Used to be Across, from Targets, down to whatever module. Now it's across, down, across, down to module.

Station Dock. Used to be Across, Down, click, now it's across, down, across, click

Check your Jump Range; Used to be 4, Across, Across, Across. Now its 4, Across, Across, Across, Down, Down

Exploration.. let's not go there. This is just a button/scroll wheel, nightmare. And has to be done for each body!

I get that Explorers wanted something deeper. But this is not the way to go. This is a fast way to RSI. What they should have done, was added another level of detail and used the explorer screen for that. Doing so, would have left those who are just happy to honk and move on happy and the real explorers would have had their benefits.

Played since Alpha, insane amount of hours sunk into Elite, bought your skins etc. And this latest update is a right royal joke. Have spent an insane amount of hours working to get this pathetic exploration system to something that works decently, I am done.

Most un-intuitive system ever been put into game since day 1, What path are you taking Frontier, cause I sure don't seem to find it enjoyable anymore, controls on top of controls on top of controls.

I will give it 6 - 12 months and drop back and see, but as it stands I not bothering with this keybind insanity any further at this time.

** No you can't has my stuff, I may return late next year :p
Are you mentally overwhelmed? Man rarely read such a crap...

Give me an example of feedback in relation the FSS that was given in Beta and was changed for release. Please.

When you start using criticism against 'magical' means to make your point, then it is equally fair to use that same 'magical' logic against you.

New FSS has infinite, zero mass planet mapping probes. You're ok with this. To you this is better / real exploration vs the "magical one-button-reveals-all" of the old ADS.

So to be very clear - you're fine with the 'magical' functions of the new FSS, but are indignant about the 'magical' functions of the old ADS?

Must admit, after trying it for the first time yesterday I'm not impressed. What was intended sounded great from the pre-update blurb. The implementation is just appalling.

First of, it's bugged for me, none of the key binds show on screen, all the hints say Not Bound.

You have to set another load of key binds to move around the screen as you have to in the GalMap or Driving, mouse or joystick sensitivity is separate to those other parts of the game, it can't be that difficult to wrote a game so that there's a common control mechanism. If there are more updates over the next couple of years, how many keybinds will we have?

The mode switching as well as having to bind to Fire Groups is dumb. Either bind the scanners to a Fire Group or have a mode switch to activate scanners, not both.

Despite being told repeatedly that a 3rd person view is not happening because it's a ship flying simulation, I'm now given a ship flying job that takes me out of the cockpit. The Galaxy Map was just about workable.

There are two separate mini-games for FSS and DSS, what was wrong with a single, Activate Scanner Array and have panels to switch between?

The whole thing is just a mess of keys and interfaces. It's like different people were given different bits to work on and sat in their little office cubicle, not talking to each other. It could have been so much better if the controls were designed with the user experience in the first place. As it is it's an overly complicated system, that eventually will be easy to use, if I can be bothered.

After the last release and going down the MMO route of resource grind to gate content, the flaky multiplayer code that we seem to be stuck with, the post update stability and a pattern of bolting on mini-games with their own key config. I'm going off to play something else for a bit. I am certainly very wary of the next set of paid content. If the example of the last couple of updates is to go by, Frontier need to up their game a lot before they get any more of my cash.

...and no you can't has my stuff. Something might improve and I might still want it!

keybinds and modes aside the old system was more streamlined and user friendly...

Streamlined does not equal better always.

In fact, usually when a game comes out and says "we streamlined a few things" in my opinion at least, that usually is met with an "oh no" response by gamers.
