Raids.

Big tough raids, with multiple bosses, who get tougher with each round.

Big rewards. Maybe "mod tokens", allowing for a free roll at an engineer. Special side missions mid-raid that are hysterically tough, but offer another mod token as a reward. Bit like the pledge scrolls in ESO.

If you're not good enough to complete the raid? Find better allies, or get better yourself.

Yes, I'm saying this in full knowledge that I'm probably not good enough to complete these hypothetical, mythical raids.

I agree that the game needs more content especially for those who have a full fleet, billions in the bank and maximum engineered ships.

However I'm not sure raids like you suggest are the answer.

Wing missions that are very tough and can only be accomplished with 4 seriously tooled up ships is a yes.....raids with a series of bosses that respawn over and over is a no.

Very hard wing mission= raid. You can call it what ever but raid is just name for hard mission that require coop and usually not just running around like headless chickens.
 
Elite Dangerous isn't an MMORPG. No raids for joo!

Yes it is and it needs raids.

What all peaple have against coop/wing content and end game content. I would love to have some pve reason to do engineering and reason to do builds that aren't long jump range or for pvp. Hard coop pve content is needed

Actually a raid in the traditional sense as you would find in WoW and other fantasy MMORPG and as being (loosely) described by the OP is a fixed location in the game world where your group are moved into their own instance upon entering. They then battle to defeat the content and bosses, win or lose the group then exits the instance and the dungeon/raid is then reset. Some of these dungeons have timers but often you can go straight back in and start again battling the exact same content, over and over. I would hate to see this in ED.

A wing mission would be a randomly generated mission (as all ED missions currently are) with a different location each time, variable content, variation in foes and objectives and potentially different mission sources and varying rewards. One is consistent with ED missions, one is not.

The big issue is that one is fixed content in a fixed location that never changes, the other is more dynamic and in keeping with ED (can't believe I'm defending ED missions here) so call it what you like but a 'raid' means something, and it shouldn't exist in ED.

But yes....hard missions which can only be completed in wings and call for group coordination would be a good thing.

As I wrote in another tread, game need Orrery map with tactical map, say 200km radius from your position in normal space, homeworld style.

In my opinion, tactical map made all those very complex, multi-stage mission scenarios possible. Would love missions that required 1-2 hours of actual and different gameplay, not waiting while USS spawns.

I could totally see that to replace the current rankup missions in millitary.
Instead of the "Go kill this one dude" it could be "You and other CMDRs (players) will unite to stop a rebellion" or something like that, raids with a leader at the end.
That would be nice. [heart]
 
This is the second "what this game needs or what should change" thread posted here within ten minutes this morning.

I would like to read responses from the developers on these points.

People are entitled to an opinion but, and this is an assumption, no one in either of these threads (so far) actually works for FD as coder, programmer, designer etc.

Also this:

You're all wrong. What the game needs is mirror shades. Well, that and tin foil remloks.

Considering how these forums are tinfoil hats would also help.
