"What I want and what I DON'T WANT to see in this game"

Hey!

This is Mr. Toad and this is my personal list of "do and dont's" for this game. So most of you focus on what you want. And I, as a pessimist will tell you first, what I would hate to see in this game and explain why. So, let's start. Feel free to add your points and share your views on what I posted, just keep it civilized ;)

1. Extinct animals - until the scientists will clone the wooly mammoth or sabertooth cat, I want none of these in the game. Reason is, we already have JWE and I would be just disappointed if we would now get JWE content + normal animals. Also, I would like the game to be slightly more realistic (transporting via vehicles not via wooden "cage" carried by zookeeper which is the main thing that will spoil my fun in this game! However, small animals might remain in these small packages, this is fine with me)

2. Mythic animals - well, the reason is even more obvious. While I would obviously like "zootycoonlike" game with animals from let's say, Star Wars or some other universe, that has great number of interesting animals and monsters, I dislike when games get too crazy where they should not. Also, having animals that could not exist (dragons like we know them) or at least it would be very hard for them to live with these forms (let's say, "mammal" with 6 legs, something like that existed in some mythologies if I am correct or something built of parts of different animals)

3. Unrealistic behaviour - same again, animals fighting all the time, hunting without good reason (except domestic cats. They kill everything they can), totally aquatic animals spending more time on land than in water and so on... no need to explain I think.

4. Crossbreeds of animals, that cannot be created "naturally" - hybrids like Tiger x Lion or different dart frogs of the same genus/species but with different forms should be possible to create, but you would lose your reputation for creating them and even more by breeding/selling these hybrids. Hybrids that cannot be created naturally should not be possible to obtain...

5. Unrealistic prices - for example, adult Oophaga lehmanni pair costs few thousands dollars if I remember correctly, but I have not seen them in sale for long time. If they are going to be cheap like, let's say, 50 dollars per one, I am going totally nuts as a big fan of frogs and a person, who keeps them in real life (not Oophaga yet, but still frogs)...

6. Stupid mechanics of the game - bad rewards, system of space usage that uses not animal numbers, but minimal requirements of each species and is same for 1 and 20 specimens

What I want is however even more important to me, but still, I would like to not see the things above ;)

1. Animals moving inside their tanks in terrariums and aquariums (if we got aquariums at all, which is what I hope for)

2. Big number of conservation projects, which player is supposed to be a part of

3. Balance between entertainment, business and science divisions, if there is something like that. The good zoo in modern times needs to take part in conservation projects, entertain visitors and make money for constant improvements.

4. Balanced animals - I would like them to be proportionally expensive to their ratings and if they are supposed to fight from time to time (in the wrong conditions or when hungry), let this be balanced and look good. What I mean is, let's say, single wolf cannot take on adult bear, no matter what. But a pack of wolves? That is another story. Also, fights should not be so static as in JWE.

5. Bigger area of use (how to say it, how to say it) of buildings. What I mean is, in JWE we need to build tons of guest buildings near each exhibit which is dumb. Guests should not be THAT lazy, so they cannot move 100-150 meters to find their food or toilet. Look real life zoo's. There is ton of exhibits for each guest facility!

6. Additional buildings, like science centre where you can educate your guests about animals and ecology and also explain them why zoo's are neccessary, which would reduce number of dumb protesters ;) Also more building skins for each style would be cool.

7. Genetic modifications of at least the rarer and more endangered animals on very late game - modern science is wonderful. You can eliminate some genetic problems, you can eliminate sickness's that are otherwise uncurable, you can even build superior beings to what they were before, of course not by much (YET!) but the genetics is wonderful and it should be added as latest addition to the park, that works very well already)

8. In vitro and hormonal breeding - so, as I said, science is wonderful. Some animals are also very hard to breed, which I know as an animal breeder myself and future zookeeper (I start zootechnics studies this year, so excited!), some are nearly impossible to breed (bred one such species already in my home, but this is irrelevant, if you are not very skilled, you cannot repeat what I have done and clearly not without studying these animals and their habitat). Breedings of these species should be nearly or totally impossible without these additions to your zoo...

9. Sickness that cannot be cured, but occurs like 0,001% chance in lifetime of an animal - sometimes, you just cannot cure, no matter is it human or other animal. I know this will make angry a lots of people, but sometimes, very rarely it should occur. Maybe once per 50 hours of game or something, I don't know. But it is just worth considering...

10. Different forms of one species, that should or should not be crossed depends on species - many of you do not understand that probably, but for example earlier mentioned Oophaga lehmanni has different forms and they are not supposed to be crossed. The same thing is with every other dart frog and most of all amphibians. Other animals got crossed too much already and these hybrids look funny, but they often have health problems and so on. On the other hand, there are some sub-species, that are so rare, that without crossbreeding them with other population, they will die out anyway. So be very careful what you breed!

11. Genetic mutations - two headed animals sometimes happen, chimera's happen (read what it is, because it is very strange thing and hard to explain, so I will not even try here, there are more educated people who can tell that to you), animals with genetic issues also happens. I think this will be implemented in the game however, so I put it nearly in the end and also happens so rare, that it is nearly irrelevant.

12. Dying guests - yeah, one of the biggest problems of this game. Guests cannot die according to what devs said. Which is funny, but I understand this game is also supposed to be fun for kids, so no death and no gore. Unfortunately.

Generally, I am more than hyped for this game. Will stream it, that is if my Internet connection gets any better than now, which is 50% chance only. Will play it no matter what for many hours probably. Possibly even fail an exam or two because of it (yeah, I get that addicted!). But as a zookeeper in training and big animal lover, I will post whenever I see something stupid in this game. This is just my nature. This game is supposed to show how zoo works, with every detail. And I want it to be really good, because we lack such games and when one is done, we need it to be improved as much as possible.

Much love for the team creating this game, keep up the good work!

Totally Agree 100000000% with the first 3 points, the other I wouldn't care to much about.

Like mentioned below. Death and gore is most definitely not a must in the game and don't agree on that point.

''so no death and no gore. Unfortunately. ''

I REALLY don't understand why anyone would want Death and Gore in a Zoo Simulation game...
Death and gore are at the centre of pretty much every video game made ever. Let's just enjoy a game that doesn't involve people dying for a change. Thanks.

Well, nature is very brutal (despite of what many people, especially those who are against zoos and ex situ conservation at all think "oh cute animals, they live in peace and totally don't eat each other and they suffer in captivity" ;) ) and that is why I believe this should be added. Yet, the incidents where animals kill people (either staff or visitors) are so rare in rl zoos, that it is nearly unimportant. We could always get something like "visitor deaths on/off" or "blood and gore on/off" with need of manually turning the things on. That would be fair I think. Besides if I am correct, animals can kill each other in this game anyway, so why not guests? In some kind of challenge mode however, visitor deaths should be used as an extra obstacle in my opinion. If you pay 1 million or 100 thousands at least for lawyers per one dead guest and so on and if too many guests die, your zoo will be closed, that would be really good mechanics for challenge mode in my opinion. Just an opinion tho :)

Btw. I forgot one thing to add. The few species of animals that cannot be kept happy in captivity. Great white sharks and whales for example. They want to die in zoo or other places in captivity and totally should not be added, modern zoos will stop keeping them soon enough I believe. But this is to be consulted with someone more knowledgeable than me, I am just a student :)

Because of the rarity I don't think death/gore would add anything. The point is that peeps in game already react in a negative way to escaping animals and will leave the zoo, which is a good solution. What would a death counter add I would ask myself. Nothing, if you ask me. It would be just a number.

Your second part I do strongly agree with, but it's a dangerous subject to discuss here because there are some people who are very desperate for whales. ;)

I feel like all those 'rare' occurances like genetic mutations add too little to the game in comparison to the work it would need to implement. The same holds for an option to turn gore on or off. Sure, it would kinda be cool to have more options but in the end the game will always be a game with only limited options and which should stay true to itself (however the developers intend to). About the carrying of the animals, yes it seems a bit strange in the first second but it is over quickly and is actually not too odd in the comic style.

Animal attacks happens only when some idiot decided to disturb the animal or when they trespasses its territory. It also happens when an animal mistook humans for food (Like YOU, Mr. Great White!). The zoo staff are doing everything in their power to keep both animals and guests safe, although occasional mishaps did happen, often by human error, (e.g. the Harambe case, which until now is a big debate on who's to blame).

I dunno why a fraction of people would like to see animals attacking humans in Planet Zoo. I'm not finger-pointing anyone with such a...unique style of playing, I'm just wondering why anyone would do such a thing...

I Respectfully disagree with point number 1, as Jurassic World evolution will not have extinct animals. Sure, I don't think dinosaurs should be in planet zoo, but extinct animals like the dodo bird should at least be considered as DLC. If people don't want the extinct animals, and they make a DLC on it, then its not really required to buy that DLC if you don't want it.

I don't know if you're betting big whales, but I'm hoping to see killer whales, beluga, pilot whale in the game, just like zoo tycoon 2.

but gigantic animals like humpback whales wouldn't really fit. literally bondage would be this.

we haven't seen the frontier do a bad job. he will surely find something good. :)

NGL I was mildly disappointed when I learned this. Whenever I gave up or had a start a zoo in ZooTycoon it was always fun to just delete all the fences and let the animals loose to attack guests. I understand why they don't want to include i tho, but I want it lol

I'm alright with not having it in the game, even though it was disappointing, however the reasoning they gave is just like the reason for not being able to name the goats in Jurassic World Evolution.

Also I would add why even add the mechanic that animals can escape without them presenting soem sort of threat? Sure it makes sense that my antelopes, peacocks, and other herbivore/prey animals won't attack guests. But I had a Lion jump the fence and then just stand in the middle of sidewalk, like it was waiting for the vet to arrive. Having the animals actually attack guests would give their escapes a sense of urgency. As it stands right now it's just a nuisance.
