I have noticed that different factions off the same massacre 6 ships, for example, against the same faction and some offer triple the others (normally if they're not in the same system)

I used trading still as my main source of income as that hasn't been nerfed at all, still getting 4k+ per ton profit, and then when I want to play the game in a fun way, credits roll in passively (i.e. bounty hunting wanted NPC's wherever I currently am)
Undermining via interdictions and cargo missions were 90% of my revenue. Since they got nerfed I've just been flying in RES's and nav beacons and blowing up baddies. Oh, and a few passenger missions here and there.
I think I'm about to hop in my explorer ship and disappear into the black for a couple weeks since I'm longer earn any PP merits.

That is what I have done. I definitely hope that the payment system, and commodities prices, is fixed by the time I get back.

rare trading, if a rare system is in boom. you get a higher allocation and max spawn than, and do 800 k cr a-b-a, instead of flying a circuit.
and for t6 and larger ships it is state depending trading (like @Abigor says above ;-) )
and skimmer missions. if you are allied and the minor faction is in the right state.

or just find one of those systems which hands out a ridiculous amount of data missions to be taken 10-15ly over. I'm not only enjoying the credits, but also the rep and the number of commodity rewards
They're steady credits and you don't really need special equipment. In most cases it's good to have a medium shop to cap off outpost missions as well.

I tried reading these forums and grinding peoples methods, and it felt like just that, a grind. Best advice ive read and now live by is just have fun and do whatever, it all pays. I have my pimped vulture for res extractions, pick system in war and get kill missions. Npcs of the targetted factions will come to res extraction, albeit slower, but after a few hours youll complete the mission(s) and have millions of bounties on top of reward. I had an ask explorer, went into the dark for a couple weeks and had a blast. Finally saved up enough to sell my asp, buy a python and ive been mining a ton lately. When i get board of uneventful mining i jump in my vulture and blow stuff up. Ship transfer make it way easier now 
. Currently at 40 mil in the bank and a vulture worth 21, just deciding if i want to continue this way and trade the vulture in on a FDL when i can pimp it, or combat fit my python. Once you accept there is no finishing this game, and you just do what comes naturally credits will come fast enough and youll have loads of fun.
