What is it with these thread about PVP.

It is PvP which ruins immersion and general quality of videogames.

A 2014 douchebag will still behave like a 2014 douchebag even when he is playing the role of far future intergalactic space pilot. Its terrible for immersion for me.

Plus human players always exploit game mechanics, and try to "win" by hook or crook. Makes it extremely difficult for anyone else to just enjoy an authentic experience.

Thankfully this game has the solo mode. But I still feel the game (esp the economy) is still balanced and designed for MMO play. I am tired of so many franchises (esp this one), made famous for their original single player gameplay, kicking those solo players in the crotch and opting to become mmos.

I will not bother to even read first post, just lolloed to title "What is it with these thread about PVP."

When all these things about pvp, guilds and so on have been polluting forums since Alpha, eventhough FD said "NO, we do it our way"...

These threats get hundreds or anyway dozens of replies, while I try to get many of you free expansions for life ( https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57311 ), and ONE guy thought it mattered????

for me its a kind of shame really but I will mostly solo play because I dislike pvp saying that I will build a fast well kitted ship to enter open play Just to kill pvp players and protect the innocent I think I will enjoy that what the hell

well, having the choice between solo and open is not actually forcing anyone. It just shouldn't transfer the stats in-between imo. That about was my whole point.

I could argue that playing in a large PVE group mode I don't want either open mode or PVP group mode interfering with my game by affecting the markets and systems I am playing in. But I don't mind them doing so after all it is the game I researched and bought into and I have been playing computer games, including the first Elite, since Clive Sinclairs ZX80 game of Pong. In my opinion it should transfer the stats between the different modes of play, after all it said that when I considered backing it.
Unlike you I read the games blurb, looked around these forums, joined the backers tentatively, and hoping this game never became an Eve 2 where I have a few billion isk invested, as the sandbox argument there is carried to extreme ganking, and am very happy it has turned out to cater for all tastes and did not become an Eve 2. I am so glad it has never given in to that vociferous minority of PVP players like yourself who want to force others to play by your own ideas of how it should be played.

Like Mike has said if you don't like our game go make your own, and to come crying on here that it isn't what you expected because as you admit, you didn't research it properly, is your own fault, and a bit of a pointless exercise.

I too have backed SC but I doubt I will ever get to play that game as judging by the path it seems to be taking at the moment, it will either be some form of Eve2 or it will never get to the stage of a finished fully playable game. But if it ever does get finished perhaps you will be happy there so for your sake I hope it does become a playable game.

This is perhaps the most persistent topic on the forums ?

It seems to me that the only way people who support open (and thus pvp) play can have it their way is for solo to be entirely separate and for grouping to be separate also because either can currently be used to avoid pvp encounters. I just cannot see that happening and neither would I want to, by providing different ways to enjoy the game it widens its appeal and that must be a good thing for the games future prospects. Having come from an almost exclusive PVP gaming background I like the options in ED, I'm enjoying the MOBIUS server and for those who want to pew-pew other human pilots there is nothing stopping them from doing it either in open mode or even better PVP biased servers .

70,000? Inhabited systems/markets.

NPC trades outnumbering PC Trades 1000 to 1 (Number pulled out of my posterior for illustrative purposes.)

Multiple Instances due to number of players/player network QoS.

Players spread over different timezones as well as geographically throughout the galaxy.

Just how badly do you think the solo player is going to affect "your" game. Probably no where near as much as "some" would wish to affect his/hers.

A better way to look at private groups of one/many - is to think of them as a truly random number generator in the background simulation.

After all AI is predictable and pant's right?

See, you get the benefit of a more immersive and dynamic market, populated with minor "more realistic" fluctuations. All for the one off, low low price of £35 GBP. Just about as much as they've paid to play the game their way as well.

What makes you think I want to 'force' anyone to anything or that I am part of the 'vociferous minority of PvP players'?
Anyway, since you have no real argument when it comes to defending this questionable decision FD made with their pseudo-multiplayer mode, except the "people not being forced to play it your way"-statement (which is neither an argument nor is it true), you have to resort to trollish accusations like this. I get it.

Like Mike has said if you don't like our game go make your own, and to come crying on here that it isn't what you expected because as you admit, you didn't research it properly, is your own fault, and a bit of a pointless exercise.
Lol, yea and here we go again - another perfect candidate for 'The Best Argument Ever' Award - Sure, I will go now and make my own game - with blackjack and hookers!
And yes, I've admitted that I made a mistake but nonetheless I still wanted to discuss the matter. And I've even explained why I wanted to discuss it. Feel free to leave the discussion at any time.
