I deliberately avoided purchasing a LEP for entirely different reasons which I've expressed in more detail before - the financial & motivation implications for the game; the outpouring of love & trust in buying a LEP gives the company a nice big lump sum to re-invest (let's not even speculate whether those funds were diverted to other projects) but causes a decrease in demand & consequently, potential revenue from each new DLC

- that's an incontrovertible fact - which of course, makes this business model
relatively less appealing & pushes other models to the forefront for a profit-motivated entity. Anyone who knows the story of how Mr Braben dealt with Ian Bell's rights to the intellectual property of Elite can see that profit is very much a priority at the expense of all other considerations; behold - the rise of the micro-transaction.

Many people defending LEPs are doing it sometimes out of cognitive dissonance but often pure denial! It reminds me of parents who smoke in their houses & when one explains the dangers of passive smoking on their kids - they get indignant & block out any guilt by deluding themselves; but let's be plain - they have almost certainly harmed their own kids' development! Just like LEP holders have almost certainly harmed Elite's; the only issue up for debate is, to what degree?!
I wonder how long
this post will last in the 'Innocuous Discussions' section.
