What is the difference between ...

You know all the things Horizons added? Legacy ED has none of those. Same (now legacy) galaxy, same executable, same as it has been for the past 8 years...

Okay, being an Alpha backer I get the newest toys to play with. So, I wasn't aware of the fact that there was a version that was less fleshed out than the now labeled Legacy Horizons, since on my launcher I could only choose between 4 options before this update; being:

Elite Dangerous Odyssey
Elite Dangerous Horizons
Elite Dangerous Arena
and
Single Player Combat Training

So I could not even play with Elite Dangerous without horizons up until now. To me it looked like Fdev saw fit to add a new one to the mix now that I didn't know about, hence the question.

As I am gravitating towards legacy more than the new stuff which IMHO has lost its atmospherics charms I will be trying out both Legacies versions.

Thank you all for the responses, it makes sense now.

P.S. Yes 32 Bit was dropped quite a few years ago when windows 10 becam the platform of choice and windows 7 was ditched, and also there it was not possible to land on planets.
