What is the Duradrive?

Since Geochron is using a duradrive motor, I now suspect that duradrive will massively improve the durability and stability of our cockpit clock on the upper right of the hud.

Handheld Galnet and Menu Interface for when we get Space Legs.

This has been my assumption, ever since they launched the stories on Galnet a month ago:

You know how, when you're in your ship or SRV, you can look down to the left and right, and see the little pop-up screens? Navigation to the left, Status to the right? The Duradrive will allow us to see those exact same screens while where spacelegging about. The other doohickey (the Torc thing) will presumably be the cause of us seeing other helpful pop-up messages as we walk about, such as a reminder that we're running out of ammo for our laser pistol, or that the space-bat we just shot is worth 17 credits.

Presumably, we can switch off or de-equip the Torc and Duradrive, for "added realism".

Duradrive Enters Production

12 OCT 3304

Technology company Herculean Machines has begun mass production of its new device, the Duradrive personal computer.

Following the successful performance of its prototype at the Rackham Ultratech Expo, the company has received corporate funding from a range of sources, including Rackham Capital Investments.

Maddox Hurd, CEO of Herculean Machines, told the media:

“As I’ve said before, what people want is a reliable tool that is tough enough to handle anything. I’d like to once again thank the galactic community for providing the commodities that made our success possible.”

There has been no comment from rival CEO Scorpio DeVorrow.

------------

It's tough enough to do what exactly? I think we'll get it with Beyond Chapter 4.

I'd be surprised beyond the surprise of finding out that star citizen has been completed before the year's end, if this isn't just a means for players to retain exploration / mission data across ship destruction.

That is, assuming it's something that players will interact with at all.

Tbh, the most recent SC gameplay demo looked pretty incredible. The Alpha already looks like there's more to do than ED. I was trying to play ED last night but was bored after 10 minutes as there's nothing to do. If SC didn't charge such mental prices for their ships i reckon i would just play the alpha.

We need Steve from GamerNexus to review and benchmark this new Duradrive. The biggest question that needs answered is, can the Duradrive play Elite Dangerous at decent frame rate?

My thoughts on this is that it has something to do with space legs.

Why? What in "dura" and "drive" makes you think about space legs? Wishful thinking?
The wording "jumped on it"?

I guess people are grasping for straws nowadays if anything from galnet is taken as hints.
But nice necro :p

I'm entitled to an opinion that's why. It's called contributing.

Oh nice attitude by the way.

  • The Duradrive functioned perfectly
  • Zachary Rackham tested a Duradrive by jumping on it

Based on the number of insurance claims for smart phone, tough enough to survive a drop off a table, or 5 minutes with a toddler, would be an improvement, left alone being standard issue for Fed Mil
