What is the next Alpha phase?

The next phase of Alpha is: 3.01, docking and outfitting.

A phase where people actually get to test Alpha 3.0!!! He he.

But yes, in all seriousness it's trading and travelling, Wait time, who knows, standard eta seems to be 4-6 weeks per phase.

I think some progress has been made, the first time I got into the station, it kept having the pad error so I failed to dock then the station vanished. Today I managed to get in for a second time, didn't get the pad error and nearly managed to land when I crashed to desktop.

LOL ! But true. +1 :)

My CH Pro HOTAS setup is working really well so far, and landing even though it seems to be easier isn't something you want to take for granted.

The next Alpha phase will happen when FD feel they're ready for it :). It is hard to base any ideas on timeline from previous Alpha's imho.

I just feel sorry for the Star Citizen developers. They will have all these problems but with 300,000 people trying to connect at the same time! Will be interesting to see if their alpha process goes any different.

These systems almost need pre-alphas where they just load test the servers and ask eveyone to connect at the same time and then report if they can successfully get to a holding screen. There's no point trying to test game play if you haven't tested the networking.

Although with a small number of alpha testers I guess it doesn't hurt to do both at the same time for those who do get in ok.

Taking this approach, FD should ask all our Beta testers to load test the Elite servers / networking / p2p before the main alpha game play tests are finished. Should help speed things along I hope. You wouldn't give then any in game content but would help then feel included ahead of the Beta release.

I like your thinking!:)

A little gameplay couldn't hurt though, surely?...;) And no, I'm not calling anyone Shirley... Unless of course your name is just that. :)

Very smart +1

Just a thought. Another benefit of running a pre beta, all users connectivity/server test would be to help players test the local setup and connections are ok. If this was done a few weeks before beta launch, it would separate out discussions / fixes to local issues from those at the wider game level.

CIG did adding additional alpha servers for bigger stability...as stretch goal.

Yeah, they went there.
