What is the one piece of Advise you would offer a New Player.

Learn the limitations of your ship and work with them. Learn the turning speed, where the sweet point of manoeuvring is.

Take out some lesser bounties, don't put yourself into risk unless you feel ready to do so.

If you are trading don't ditch shields for more cargo room until you are confident you can avoid getting into battles and not crash into stations and other ships. When you do make sure you have enough insurance to cover that moment you make a mistake.

Make sure you keep your landing gear down as soon as you're in a station, to avoid accidentally boosting straight into a wall.

I remember the days when boost was boost landing gear or not! Oh the horrors lol

Learn how to manage your power systems. Knowing when to divert power to shields/engines/weapons will give you an edge.

Learn to use the full range throttle, being able to fly backwards with ease opens up a lot of combat maneuvers.

Don't fly what you can't afford to loose.

Try to avoid beelining straight towards your goal when supercruising in busy systems. NPC's and other players will largely hang around the "disc" axis of the system so dropping below this to avoid being harassed is a pretty good idea.

Learn to us your ships power distribution and UI quickly and efficiently. Being able to quickly dump a few un-needed systems when you need more power, or getting your shields back online a few seconds earlier could be the difference between life and death (or at least insurance payments and no insurance).

Before embarking on an epic journey, make sure you plan your route and, even though the new route planner shows you how far you'll get on your current fuel, make sure you don't end up in a situation where your two jumps from the nearest populated system and you only have fuel for one.

You'll start to familiarise yourself with the starting area you're in. Keep a few notes of what sells what and any other things (black market locations and stuff). You'll find this very handy.

This is my sidewinder. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My sidewinder is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My sidewinder, without me, is useless. Without my sidewinder, I am useless. I must fire my lasers true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

My sidewinder and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My sidewinder is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its guns and its power. I will keep my sidewinder clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Do not expect to master this game in five minutes. There will be times when you you will be utterly frustrated and wanting to throw your monitor on the floor. but stick in there because it is worth it...
