What is your favourite DLC pack of 2024?

Now that all DLC for 2024 is revealed, which was your favourite and which was your left favourite? Here's my ranking:
  1. Eurasia Animal Pack
  2. Oceania Pack
  3. Arid Animal Pack
  4. Tropical Pack
In all honesty though, the bottom three are all quite close for me. I think they are all fine packs but they have something major missing to make them really good. I'd say they are all 6/10s if I had to put a number to it. Oceania gets the boost for giving me my most wanted animal (Tasmanian Devil) and then I'm putting Arid over Tropical since even if it was heavy on ungulates I am very likely to use all the animals in the pack compared to Tropical. Building sets this year are decent but nothing groundbreaking, so it didn't affect my rankings too much.

Eurasia is easily the best pack of the year for me, 8/10, as someone who loves building European native areas this pack was such a huge boost and I cannot wait to start building once it is out.

Its been a subpar year for overall animal choices for me, no single pack stands out as a clear winner unlike last year's selection. The scenery part of the scenery packs have been great, foliage choice largely included in the free updates is an improvement but we are going into more and more niche packs its hard to separate the good from the bad. The major downside of this year is that both americas have been sidelined in favour of bulking up africa, oceania and asia which was half expected but still disappointing for me who specialises in north american zoo builds.

  1. Arid - Camel, porcupine and a generally strong african ungulate roster. Filled the missing gaps of africa and the middle east. The anniversary peccary thankfully made the arid pack stronger by adding the missing america representation.
  2. Eurasia - Wolverine, wild boar and the Mute swan are the highlights, simply because fun habitat designs can be made in this regard, wetland areas can actually be worth building for now that swans will be able to use them.
  3. Tropical - Lar gibbon and fossa hold up the back. Lar gibbon is pretty much a zoo staple while fossa adds to the Madagascar habitats. The Sloth is an utter disappointment, rrh is another tropical pig and the monitor exists. Scenery is good but nothing amazing.
  4. Oceania - Nice scenery and plants, animals are useless in every single way. I appreciate oceania people get their animals but wow little to no zoos that I can build hold any of them.

  1. Arid Animal Pack 8/10: I use the porcupine, camel, and sand cat all of the time, and I like using the donkey and addax sometimes. 5 useful animals is great for an animal pack. It only loses points for lack of diversity within the pack, but I really like having these animals on the roster.
  2. Eurasia Animal Pack 7/10: I'm super excited about the wolverine and the swan. I'll probably use some of the others occasionally, but the first two really carry this pack for me. I'm glad Europe got some much-requested representation.
  3. Tropical Pack: 6/10 The lar gibbon was my most wanted animal of the pack (at least it was before the siamang). This pack also brought a much-desired sloth and red river hog. With so little from South America, though, it left a bitter taste. I normally don't judge packs too harshly on what's missing, but until we get better SA rep and monkeys, it's just going to look like a missed opportunity. The scenery is pretty, but a bit niche for me.
  4. Oceania Pack 6/10 I like the Kiwi a lot and the quokka is pretty nice, but most of these animals aren't very common in zoos near me. Again, the scenery is a bit niche, but I love the blueprints. I'm glad Oceania got some rep, and this is by no means a "bad" pack. Two birds is pretty good. However, it didn't add much for me personally. None of these were top 25 animals for me.

In my opinion all Packs were great. I really got a Lot of animals high on my priority list. Unfortunately the number 1 still is Missing but hopefully I will have more luck next year.
My ranking would be:
1. Arid animal Pack (9.5/10)
2. Eurasia animal Pack (9/10)
3. Tropical Pack (8.5/10)
4. Oceania Pack (8/10)

1. Oceania and nothing comes close. Sure, they may be niche to those outside the region, but to those who build within it 3/5 of these animals are just as essential as a lion or a rhino. It’s basically our version of the Europe pack (pretty much all of those animals were useless to me, but to a European zoo they’re essential.) The kiwi is my favorite animal in the whole game and the little penguin was a very pleasant surprise that I considered essential (the only warm weather penguin kept in the region) and didn’t think we would get. Some of the scenery is way too focused on the American-created/appropriated “tiki culture” for my liking over actual Polynesian art, but that’s not the majority of the scenery and a lot of it’s great. It made the region go from having pretty terrible representation to being pretty good. 8.5/10

2. Eurasia is just kind of okay. Not very diverse and has some not so great animal choices. I’m sure it’ll come in handy if I ever build in Europe though. Literally the only reason it’s above Tropical is because it finally gave us a long awaited waterfowl. 6.5/10

3. Tropical this is another one that’s just fine. There’s nothing outrageously bad here, but nothing with a wow factor either. It’s all just nice additions coupled with a pretty good building set. It feels like filler to me, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I still really like it for what it is. 6.5/10

4. Arid is a bit of a strange case where all of the animals are alright on their own, but as a set it’s just more of the same already well represented groups. It’s not bad, but it’s far from great. 5/10

This year had some highs and lows for me, but aside from Oceania it was just kind of okay. Probably the weakest year for me but that’s not saying much considering it was still pretty great.

1. Oceania: 8/10. Great scenery, super useful. Kiwi and tassie we're great additions. I think the animal roster could have been better though. Victoria crowned pigeon? Lorikeets for WTE?
2. Tropical: 8/10. Great scenery as well. Once again roster should have included southamerican animal instead of water monitor, preferible a bird.
3. Eurasia: 7/10. Some very strong animal choices for me personally with sean, sloth bear and takin. It gives us wolverine which was a community favorite. And just the fact that gives us our first waterfowl elevates this pack over the Arid pack.
4. Arid: 6/10. Not Bad, but not great. Missed opportunity to get animals from deserts all over. Beautiful animal designs but bad mix as a whole. It gave me three favorites with porcupine (which is just the best animal design in game imo) , dromedary and black rhino. Lacks reptile (spurred tortoise, perentie), bird (secretary, roadrunner) and baboon.

  1. EURASIA : A 9/10 Pack for me 👏👏 really Like it
  2. ARID : A 7,5/10 Pack. Its cool. Many Animals I like
  3. OCEANIA : A 7/10 Pack. Like the animals. Just not my region I wanted more animals from
  4. TROPICAL : 4/10 some nice animals (gibbon, RRH) the rest, meh

1. Eurasia : 9/10. Many animals I love in this selection, with the Saiga being the only one I actually do not like. Our first waterfowl with the swan!!!
2. Oceania : 7/10. Not really for me but I'm sure people from this region are ecstatic with it. Pretty good pack overall.
3. Arid : 5/10. Too focused, geographically and taxonomically, to be a great pack - given that it's a biome pack. Very meh.
4. Tropical : 4/10. Don't really care for the fossa or the red river hog. Wrong sloth. No SA habitat animal, the gibbon is good but it's a clone, and I would have largely preferred a SA monkey... One of the worst pack of the game for me.
