What is your specialty?

what is your specialty when it comes to building, and what are your weak points, for example I build pretty good habitats but my decorating skill for literally everything else like buildings in not good? what's your talent and/or weakness.

(don't be too self-criticizing or belittle other's skills and weak points, and pics are preferred but not necessary, I mean I am not posting any 🤪)

My specialty is recreating real zoos and items because I suck at making creative builds. If I don't have a picture to copy then I just stare at a screen and maybe make some low effort stuff that I would of made back when I started the game. For actually specific parts of a zoo that I would consider a weakness then it has to be animal shelters, I find it pointless to build an area that I will not see in a tour of the zoo. Since I have never paid attention to animal shelters, I'm not that great at making them.

I love playing with terrain and painting terrain. I do this more in PlanCo than PlaZoo, but still love it.
Huh interesting, one of my least favorite parts is your favorite , HUH, ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!
ok but jokes aside I am glad you find joy in something I don't.

I'm good at the "Nature" bit of the habitat. Foliage, rocks, terraforming, water is a pain but i work with it untill i get what i want. It is also what i enjoy the most along with planning.

I suck at building and it frustraste me SO much because i've seen tons of tutorials and i know in my head ( and on paper ) what i want to build, but i really struggle with the controls.

My talent is planning and thinking out every single detail to point of exhaustion, especially during times I should be doing something else.

Where I fall short is converting those plans into game. Basically doing literally anything when I boot up the game.

that's one sad existence, but I do bet that when you get it right you get it right.

I feel your pain. I'm the same.

Even more frustrating to me is that i was a good builder in ZT2 and PZ was like a dream come true when it came out... But too much freedom and complex control system was kind of overwhelming.

That's why i make the nature bits first, because at least i can see some progress and get the general layout done. I deal with buildings later.

you two are not alone in that either ;).

I think I am best at creating realistic habitats with rocks, foliage.. not that I actually enjoy this. It is my least favorite part 😅. I struggle with creating realistic buildings so I use pictures for inspiration. The most difficult part creating nice zoos is thinking out of the box. Often I don't see what is possible with building pieces. Then I see someone elses creations and I am like why didnt I think of that?

Id say my strong suits are interesting and varried terrain, nature and simple habitats as ive gotten quite good at making something plain look beautifull, which all comes together into some great panorama shots i might put a bit to much effort into

My building of exterior shells for building has also improved alot, with some simple adjustments to how i tackle them really helping me to make them look more interesting consistently.I also finally got a grasp on the path system to build some rather advanced paths, with the most impressive thing being the interior of my tropical house, that s was a pain but im proud

My biggest flaw is that i often build something and then do not touch it for eternitys. Something can be 95% done and i will take over half a year to finish it, if i finish it at all, which is why most of my zoo looks far worse then it could as those final finishing touches are missing.
The biggest culprit among that is doing actual interiors of buildings and doors, i just postpone them forever.
I also feel that while my general layout feels good, that the stuff outside and inbetween the habitats is often a bit lacking, either being very basic or just none existant, but im trying to get much better at that to add some more interest and spark to my zoos.
And lastly my creativity is quite hit or miss, with sometimes very ambitious idears and some nice creativity but at the same time i often default back to the same decoration sheme and a themeless enclosure, resulting in habitats not exactly looking the same but at the times just not being very eye catching

Buildings are though. At first I build all my stables in the same basic boring style. Now that I have more of an idea what my zoo will look like, I have more inspiration and I redo my stables bit by bit. Not everything has to be perfect right away. Eventually we get there.
