What is your specialty?

I'm good at theming and comming up with unique stories and sections in my zoo.
I am not good with realism and realistic buildings.
I have two zoos (neither finished of corse) that have their own stories:
  1. Briarwood Zoo: this zoo in Ireland used to be a former renaissance fair. So I tried to make every building themed in a “European style”.
  2. Birch wood Zoo: this zoo is found in the NorthEast USA. It used to be the former estate of the Birch family, who loved owning exotic animals. The zoo definitely used to have animals in poor conditions, but the modern zoo knows that and is trying to improve the animals conditions while leaving the historical buildings alone. It also added new buildings as well. The mansion of the family is the centerpiece of the zoo, and Mrs. Birch is famous for planting trees on her rooftop garden, and loving birds.
So I like to have themed zoos, and I find it fun to give them a story. Maybe that should be one of my pros?

Realism ties into one of my personal issues though, if I don’t have a certain animal I won’t build it. When I said the lack of birds affects how I play PZ I actually really meant it! Zoos have bird collections, Planet Zoo only has 11 bird species. Of those species, some aren’t realistic for the zoos I want to build. Now I can create a zoo with a story as to why they have some of the more exotic birds (cassowary and kiwi), but sometimes it isn’t enough. I have yet to build a NA animal zoo due to no birds, and I have never built any SA zoo because it has no birds. Some of the habitats I would love to build I just can’t. It is actually killing my enjoyment for the game. For every hoofstock exhibit I build I would love some bird/ reptile habitat. My options are so limited with both I can’t do it.

I meant realism more building wise though. Like... propper pipelines, gutters, even statics for shelter are just... not something my brain can work with.
I do have some realism blocks with animals that are rarely kept in zoos, but I will try to overcome them to enjoy the game more. Maybe you should try, too. And with missing animals, there is always the optiion of pretend habitats.
As I said several times, I try to approach the game (and life for that matter) more from the point of what we have and not what we lack.

My main strength is in habitat design. I'm not terrible at buildings but I'm definitely no architect. The thing is, it's mostly about willpower than actual ability, which I imagine is true for most people. The building system isn't complicated in and of itself, but it is time consuming, and there is a certain level of tedium involved. One of my biggest struggles is doing, for example, habitats included inside buildings.

Roofs are where I struggle the most.

My talent is planning and thinking out every single detail to point of exhaustion, especially during times I should be doing something else.

Where I fall short is converting those plans into game. Basically doing literally anything when I boot up the game.

Same here and it feels terrible. I haven't built anything for months although I had some very big ideas. Once in game, I'm looking in the void of my screen windering what to start with. And usually once I start, I'm happy for a few hours and at one point I have to face a problem, something I didn't plan and it blocks me for weeks.
