What joystick/controller do you use?

After killing no less than 7 (or 8?) T.Flight HOTAS X that all failed with nearly identical symptoms within max. 4 months each...

Currently running a T.16000M FCS.

3 months in, had a single day of getting typical T.Flight HOTAX X failure symptom (twist generates ghost inputs), but it faded away again luckily.
In 1 month, I'll know if this HOTAS works better than the ill-designed and short-lived T.Flight HOTAS X.
(so far it looks like it, no permanent decalibration on X/Y/Z axes ; so far any temporary mild decalibration could be solved by moving the stick around all axes full-deflection)

X52&throttle (x55 backup) +2nr Cougar MFD 16 button boxes +3nr saitek flight control panels (for raising and lower the landing gear lol)

x52 is the pro btw (4 years old and still going strong)

That's odd, I never got any problems with mine, and have used it for a bit over a year now. You must be very unlucky.

T-flight has way too few buttons (and more importantly, axis!) for this game, if you ask me. But it will get you started on the path!

Thrustmaster TWCS throttle (the one that pairs with the T16000 stick) and currently my old Saitek st290pro (waiting for it to break so I can get the T16000m stick)
That throttle has a stick I mapped to lat/vert thrusters and a paddle mapped to forward/backward thrust. So it’s a full throttle plus all 6 thrusters in analog solution. It’s a perfect combo of throttle and two sticks, plus an extra centering axis.
These are attached to my chair arms with custom mounts I built for cheap. Very nice; very necessary for VR.
(I can post details about the chair mounts if anybody is interested)

When I first bought ED I used an old Speedlink Black Widow that I'd used for Oolite. I quickly ran out of buttons & bought a Thrustmaster Hotas X which was excellent & took me to combat Elite. Sadly the hat broke after about 9 months so I bought another and after about another 9 months (I play a lot, several hours per day) the throttle went a bit floppy & would no longer stay where I put it if I took my hand off the controls (flopping forward to full throttle) so I bought A T16000FCS & built one good spare HOTAS from the two broken ones.

The Thrustmaster T16000 stick has been excellent in terms of both resolution (fine control) and quality but the ergonomics of the button positions is poor, I preferred the HOTAS X stick in that respect.
The FCS throttle has been a little spikey on the analogue axies pretty much since new, and the sliding throttle became frustratingly sticky after a few weeks, I've taken it apart to remove & re-apply silicone grease to the sliders every month or so for the last couple of years, but recently started to get noticeably worse, seemingly from simple wear on the plastic mouldings (I've probably put 3,000+hrs onto this device). A new FCS throttle arrived just today, hopefully it will last as long but also hopefully won't suffer the spiking. The ergonomics of it are excellent for ED imo, best throttle for my use at any price. I'm on the lookout for an ergonomically better stick but I am at least used to it after a couple of years of use :)

I have a similar layout on my throttle but I use the paddle for up and down. It feels more natural for me.

That's the crazy thing - because I've heard plenty of reports from folks who used that exact HOTAS for years without a single issue.
Mine were eventually ordered from various different suppliers just to make sure and were purchased over the course of 2 years; thus it couldn't have been something like a batch issue.

Still.... they died on me like flies. Every single one.

I can only assume that I seem "too strong" or "too heavy-handed" for them - although one of them was exclusively used only for Exploration.
But even that one died the exact same way (?)
In the end I treated them like raw eggs to my best abilities, even avoided Combat which had proven to stress them by far the most. But no dice.

Anyone using a racing wheel, Yoke controller or even that farming simulator tractor wheel?

If so how do you find it?

I tried mapping the SRV controls to my wheel & pedals but switching between the controllers was impractical & my wheel (an old logitech momo red) didn't have enough buttons so I drive with the FCS throttle (finger paddle for steering, throttle for throttle) and use the stick to control attitude when off the ground and the turret in turret view. I briefly tried an XBox 360 controller but keeping my hands on the hotas won out as a practical compromise.

Surely someone is flying their type-9 around using an American/European Truck Simulator set up?
or a type-7 going to agricultural worlds in a Farm Simulator set up?

X52pro, which is over 12 years old.
Also a T1600m when I use my laptop.

Have an X52 spare but hoping to get an X56 before the year is out.
