What keeps you company out there?

It can be lonely out there in the black, long hours spent exploring the furthest reaches. What do you listen to to while away the hours.
I just finished listening to this

https://archive.org/details/IsaacAsimov-TheFoundationTrilogy

Which i quite enjoyed. And have listened to far to much of this

Suggestions welcome.

Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno & Neu! Are a good fit too!

"Birth of liquid plejades" by any chance? (boy that brings back memories)

Meanwhile, I listen to sci fi themed audio books. Lots of them.
The latest being Elite: Reclamation by Mr Wagar.

Btw Drew, the production of this audio book is one of the best I've ever heard.

I listen to Radio Sidewinder now and then, though the last time I went out I started listening to these psyambient playlists on youtube, of all places.

Yesterday was the first day I opted to listen to anything outside the game.

My first couple of options included Deep Purple's Space Truckin' and Highway Star, followed by Bad Company's Shooting Star, David Bowie's Major Tom and then from there I just threw up the entire Mass Effect trilogy OST.

I have a large collection of personal music. I will be going through and putting together a general "SuperCruise Mix" to broadcast with my stream.

Any links to free ones or are they ones you bought?

It was a BBC radio play of the foundation trilogy. And yes that is Sun Ra, i bagged it as my CMDR Name, Space is the Place Ya'll. Climb aboard the mothership.

Most of the time I just listen to the sounds of the game when out there, depending on mood. Other times I have a player tuned to sports, 22 Pistepirkko or Portal(1&2) soundtracks.

sidewinder radio...this forum, armored warfare forum...various playlists on youtube, (master and commander..etc), and my cat...she has perfected of the art of curling into a ball between the X52 and me...guess she is my copilot . lol

I've been going through a playlist of all my ripped CDs on album shuffle. After 6 months the end is in sight!

I also listen to a lot of BBC radio comedies & plays.

Many thanks to the OP for the link to the Foundation recordings, +rep

Radio sidewinder when the rest of the horde(family) haven't come home yet and then wherever my mood takes me....by the way heavy metal is a really REALLY bad idea when exploring.....nothing like playing chicken with a star lol

NOTHING.
Not even in game music.
Only the sound of engines and scanner, and the notes and sounds of object from system map.

No music, no video, nothing on other screens.
At best a tablet where i note down every interesting discovery.
Alt-tabbing also ruins immersion and it's strictly forbidden: all scan data is re-emailed to me from the tablet, and when i am not playing i copy paste it all in shiny excell sheet.
