'Classic' style?

With the min to max range of comparable games, one would have to think that turning all the settings down would let a fairly low-end machine run it, but it might not be pretty.

I'd love an option to set it into 'classic' mode and have wire-frame models and such.

you want to know the set-up specs for Elite: Dangerous?
As this is the recommended set-up specs for Egosoft's X-Rebirth :
Recommended:
OS: Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit)
Processor: Intel i5 (Quad) or i7 at 2.5GHz or AMD equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVidia GT500 series with 1GB RAM or better, ATI 5870HD with 1GB RAM or better
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 10 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card
Additional Notes: These specs are still being determined.
I'd take that as a minimum set-up specs for Elite: Dangerous

A happy wife, is a happy life...

Looks like I barely make the min spec;

The Wife will either be happy that she's getting a 'new' laptop, or unhappy that I'll be asking for a better one for Christmas.
