What method do you use to keep your stored modules organized?

mines super simple , I just sell them and buy when I need =-P , money really isn't hard to make in this game.

Its the engineered modules that I can't sell (therefore are priceless to me). Something I dont equip today might be part of the plan in 2 weeks or 2 months.

not only that
talk about 8 different powerplay modules that you can't easily rebuy (in case you are not pledged to anyone 9)

i wonder why we can't directly sort the storage.
having to go back to the buy screen, select there what method for sorting i want (name, A-Z or Z-A, size or price), just to change the order in the storage... talk about Quality of life...

Module storage is kind of like a junk drawer. Stuff that might be useful "one day", then forget it's there and just buy new ones anyway. Swapping modules in and out does my head in, so I have a ship for each role and only really store any surplus G5 engineered stuff and PP modules.

Excel FTW! Pain to keep updated, so I do a semi-regular cleanup of it now and then. All are pretty much stored at the same station, so atleast I know where it is

I'd love filters for it in the game. Specifically slot (ie. Core, Utility, Hardpoints and Optional) and then size when applicable. I always have 100+ modules stored, and the one I am looking to transfer over always seems to be among the last 10% [where is it]

Yep, the same filters used for store multiple would be handy, but overall I'm just glad I don't have to keep everything stored on different ships. I have about 80 engineered modules (mostly weapons) and some power play stuff, then of course some engineered hulls from ships I buy, fail miserably at piloting effectively, then sell off (looking at you Type-10).

Oh, I have about 10 ships I use solely for storage of modules. Now, keeping track of that really requires Excel :D

I try to keep all in two places. I'll pay to ship good engineered mods just to keep things close.

I sure wish they would add fields or columns you can sort on. The only sorting is what's where you are and everything else (possibly scattered all over the galaxy).

I m usually close to 120 modules, mostly engineered weapons i m trying and powerplay modules. I have all of them in 2 stations, some in storage ships, and i also use Inara to tell me what modules i have on ships and on storage. Usually once i build and engineer a ship it stays the way it is, and i buy another one if i need to do something else. I found swapping modules between ships too frustrating to remember what goes where so i don't do it often.

It would be great if there was ANY consistent way to organize modules on the interface, by name or whatever so you don't have to go through 120 of them in game when you search for something!!!

If you could buy all modules at any shipyard, we wouldn't have to keep storing modules.

Having only some stations carry some modules doesn't add anything to the game but hassle. I have to leave the game and use an external website to find where I can buy my modules. Then there is the hassle of having to wait x minutes to transfer your module to another station.

Just terrible terrible game design.

Edit: Forgot about engineered modules. I wouldn't mind if you could always access your stored module without any explanation about why.

The game doesn’t make it easy to keep one’s stored modules organized, and my stored modules can quickly become a mess. I have to be pretty meticulous about keeping notes, and if I swap out modules, I have to make sure I make a note. (But even keeping notes, the organization teeters on the edge of chaos, and from time to time I have a massive sale of stuff I don’t remember when/why I bought it).

What method do you use to keep your modules organized?

[Edit] ...and do you have any suggestions for Frontier, to improve this area? I was thinking: icon in the GalMap & SysMap to tell us there are stored modules, and the ability to add a custom label to modules, like “Explorer Dolphin” or “mining Phantom”. Maybe you have some good ideas.

I didn't read any of the responses, so apologies if this has been said:

I purpose-build and purpose-Engineer every ship, therefore, I do not ever have a mess of stored modules.

It's pretty simple, really, though I will admit that I do not have a cache of Grandfathered Engineered modules that I don't want to toss, for whatever reason.

Exactly.
Ships are cheap compared to engineered modules. I sell off extra modules even if they are engineered.
Build more dedicated ships. I have no need to horde.

I sell the wrong module when I'm drunk or tired and then spend a few weeks wondering where it's gone.

It's about as close to organization that I get.

Last time I checked I have 108M Credits worth of stored modules. Mostly D-rated 6-class and above, leftovers from my Clipper and Corvette; had those ships, sold but keep the modules. In near future I'll be rebuying those ships so modules will be there. Rest of stuff is engineered stuff like thrusters, FSDs and sensors. I found long ago that ships share modules so I swap lot of them between my ships. No need for duplicates as I can have single but engineered that fits different hulls.

What I could use - hint hint - is simple sorting; by size / by class / by type. And outfitting presets. I build exploration, lightweight Krait, saved teh config. Then I build general mission runner, saved the config. When I want to switch from general mission runner to exploration build I just select a preset and hit apply. Without the need of manually exchanging every module, one by one.
