What now?

Hi.

It's more that great that Elite will be returning. I last played it on my old Elk, upgrading occasionally from friend's Beebs.

Last night, I left a request for the Elite Explorer package. It looks brilliant.

Anyway, my request has been acknowledged.

What now?

Will something arrive by snail mail?

Will I eventually get some email confirmation?

I know things will be hectic at the Elite command centre, but be interested in hearing from the many others who have placed their orders, What now?

Sorry if this question is in the wrong place. I have to put my first post here somewhere.

Really hope someone can advise on this though.

Hi Surfinjo
Firstly welcome to the forum and thank you for supporting the game!

Now to your question.
I take it you have opted for the £70 Explorer package?

"Explorer: Have the option to start on the edge of explored space with a long range version of the Cobra Mk III and 3,000 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
DRM-free boxed edition of "Elite: Dangerous".
Independent Trader: Have the option to start in the Lave system with a basic Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR.
Participate in the second round private beta test.
Download a digital copy of the “Elite: Dangerous” music.
Pirate: Have the option to start in an anarchic Frontier system with a stolen but upgraded Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
Your name forms part of the naming database (so your name will be one of those used randomly for non-player in-game characters).
Federal Trader: Have the option to start in a Federal border system with a basic Cobra Mk III loaded with cargo worth 1,000 CR and 1,000 CR in cash (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
Download a digital copy of the official sequel to “The Dark Wheel” novel.
Imperial Bounty Hunter: Have the option to start in an Imperial Colony with an Imperial Eagle Mk II Fighter with upgraded weapons and shields and 1,000 CR (randomised start system choice for multiplayer reasons).
Receive a digital copy of the game and 500 credits when starting a new game.
Reserve your Commander name in the game (first come, first served, except Jameson).
Receive the digital newsletter and progress updates.
Be an Elite supporter, and get a digital code when the game is released to apply a transferrable decal to your ship, unique to you, the game’s backers."

If so, you will get a digital download of the game plus a standard boxed copy as well. Both however will be linked to your Commander name.
Your pack also contains 2nd round Beta access so you get the play that version next year before the game goes on general release and again this will available be via digital distribution. Keep checking the forums for updates when it is available and yes I am sure you will be emailed about it too. You should also have access to the Private Backers Forum. If you don't see it listed in the main forum after a few days then PM our ever helpful Community Manager Ashley and he will sort that out for you. He can also answer most other queries you may have.

Hope that helps you.

I'll pass on the advice that I was given when asking about the explorer pack, stick an extra tenner on, the £80 deal is worth MUCH more than just a tenner extra.

Really good advice. The £80 level includes all future updates so you won't have to pay anymore for any future expansion packs.

Thank you

Thank you so much for your quick and helpful reply.

To be honest, I was a bit concerned I'd made a mistake of some kind.
My commander and NPC names have both been accepted now.

I think I might also take popuptoaster's advice and put an extra 10 bucks in. I'll need to check though.

I'll have to spend some more time getting to know the forum better, but hopefully will be in a position to post loads soon.

Incidentally, I noticed Geraldine has listed her location as Sunny Scotland. Anarchy System. Tech Level 0. No Police Presence. Enter At Own Risk!

I presume that means the Highlands.

I lived there for a few years back in the 70s. Partly, near Kyle of Lochalsh and also Oban.

Nice. Very nice.

Now, I'm on S Coast of Endland. (Cough cough. Checks door is locked).

C'est la vie

Nothing so picturesque I am afraid, just the dank old central belt.

Lovely part of the country.

And yes I agree the £80 tier would give you a lot more, but the choice is yours.
