What other games are we all playing?

Ahh thanks for explaining. I'd love to try out AI in VR. It's a magnificent game and truly one of the best ways to experience the Alien franchise. One of my top favourite games of all times. :)

i am following fairly closely. once the mod is out, chances are I will know of it soon after and rest assured I will post on the thread in the VR section.

Colin McRae Rally 2 was the biz back in the day.

talking rally, i installed the VR mod to Richard Burns Rally last night. AFAIK its out of production now but its still probably the most simulatory rally sim todate

it is brutally hard, but very satisfying.

i am not going to give a direct link to legally questionable content, however if you look at this thread you may be able to find a version modified to work on modern pcs at modern resolution, quite handy as god knows where i put my game dvd

and if you have vr, vr mod here

apparently there is a good modding community with graphics overhauls, updated cars and stages but i have not gotten that far yet.

video of it in action here

Cool, never thought about rally games, gotta give it a shot!

DiRT Rally is a great rally game, very hardcore and the best modern equivalent to the great Richard Burns Rally game. However, it’s lacking in polish, UI, and career mode. Not bad per say, just a bit barebones in those regards, but it drives supremely and the driving experience is fantastic.

However, the newer DiRT 4 is a better “game”. It is slightly less hardcore than DiRT Rally but it is much better with regards to career mode, online modes, team building, weather effects, car selection, and it has a procedural generated stage creation tool which can make unique tracks on the fly for you to race. DiRT 4 is a bit easier to play than DiRT Rally, but still challenging enough to be great fun and the overall package just makes it a better rally game IMHO. DiRT Rally’s hand crafted tracks might be slightly better looking due to their details, but the DiRT 4 tracks keep surprising you constantly and are just damn fun to race, every time you drive it’s a new experience and that very nicely captures the essence of what rally racing is all about in my opinion.

It’s got me hooked.

sadly codies didnt bother with VR after implementing it in dirt rally :( which rules it out for me.

its the 1st dirt / colin mcrae game i have not bought since the franchise started back in the ps1 days.

Just started on The Long Dark, I've had it on early access for ages, but it seemed a bit aimless without the story mode. I Like it better now there's a story mode, it's a reason to keep moving

Thanks. :) I'd love to get into Dirt Rally, but I cannot get it to recognize my H-shifter (and it insists on having the G29 preset be a gamepad preset). Tried a lot of suggestions, but no dice. Will see if D4 does recognize my toys. It'll mostly be 'for fun' for me, I think Assetto Corsa gives me all the realism I can handle. :p

time to order some man nappies. I just stepped back onto the nostramo in VR. other than a test run a few nights back this will be the 1st time since 2014

Final report of the commercial starship Nostromo, third officer reporting. The other members of the crew - Kane, Lambert, Parker, Brett, Ash, and Captain Dallas - are dead

I was really enjoying Rimworld this week, but then one of my survivors was killed by a raider and I learned afterwards that she was the daughter of one of my most important characters. He went mad and when the man hunter housecats came, he was torn apart. This was disheartening to say the least. I had 3 left, one of which was a drug addict who was going through withdrawal and could only work a few hours a day. When my researcher/ social pillar was taken by plague, I knew the end had come.

I think I want to install some mods before I start another colony. I need the ability to smooth and engrave cave walls for that DF feeling.

Mad Mike, I didn't realize A: I had VR support. I think I need to try it out now.

Currently enjoying Star Citizen, XCom 2 in preparation for War of the Chosen, and I still play Civilization V. Looking forward to Battlefront 2! That's going to likely eat up a good amount of my downtime for a month.

Oh man... I wish I bought that damn headset now. Have fun!

Really? I had no idea there was a story mode now, maybe I'll have to load it up and check it out. It's one of the ones I know I have, but just haven't done much with for quite a long while, kind of like Stranded Deep...

Yeah, Story mode was released a couple of Days ago. Just having the odd NPC and tasks to do gives it more focus than the typical survival game. But you still need to keep an eye on your food supplies etc. and try not to get caught outside at night
