What possibly the community challenge reward be?

I am not going to judge the community challenge yet, I shall give it a few challenges to decide how I feel about it. But when I see the above post of someone releasing over 100 gorillas in less than 24 hours after the challenge has started, that any community reward for completing the goal appears to be awarded only if you are in the top 3 tiers of completing, and the high number of CC needed to even purchase one (let alone 3) of the needed animals, I wonder if it is worth it. (NOTE: I'm not saying that there was no reward for completing the challenge, just I don't know if there was)

Yes, I did manage to finish some of the unknown reward levels to get some of the rewards, but it took nearly the entire week playing each day as I could after work and when not busy with "social" activities. This is suppose to be a game and is suppose to be fun. I'm not sure if these community challenges will meet that definition if you need to be in the top 5% of participants.

I do enjoy challenges. If a game proves to be too easy, I do tend to lose interest. Which is why I like the franchise mode and the community challenges. I just wish that there was more information on what can be expected as rewards. It doesn't even have to be specific. Just a general: release 1 animal earn X, release 20 animals get 1 random animal of common variety, community challenge met, everyone gets X, and other rewards may be earned baserd on level of participation. Not saying that these are the rewards, just some type of information along those guidelines may be appreciated, especially for those who don't (or can't) run the "puppy mill" type of zoo.

Understood. We will do a more in-depth Community Challenge post as soon as we have more information on everything <3 hopefully that will give you a better overview!

While we're on the topic of gorillas, does anyone else get this when they look in the zoopedia? They're fully researched so I'm confused why I'm missing items.

Yeah, I noticed this last night. I'll start a ticket in the Issue Tracker if there isn't one already. One possibility is that those could be reserved for community rewards if the community challenge is met, which would be why they're "hidden" now.

Thanks in advance!
This are some questions that i personally am interested in:
  • Are all contributions within the timelimit considered for your reward or only those contributions that are done until the challenge is met?
  • Are there final rewards for the challenge, too? (I didn't get any this challenge)
  • Are there going to be other unique rewards than outfits?
I hope, this helps you guys preparing your overview :)

I finally just finished Gorilla research and I have all items unlocked, but I already knew them from research for other animals, so there might be a bug here.

I just checked the animals I got from the community challenges. As mentioned earlier, I got a mandrill as final animal for the tiger event, and I just got a zebra for the gorillas. And what do I find in my rewards storage?

A red ruffed lemur! No mandrill, no zebra.

Just had the exact same thing happen with my lions - they're the only 2 animals (except exhibits) that I have researched in this particular zoo.
Hopefully someone on the dev team can clarify if it's intended that you need to research multiple related species to unlock everything (or if it's just bugged).

Edit: managed to get the restraint feeder from some tiger research - not sure what the other one is or which animal I could get it from. :(

also 5 days is a lot too fast for a community challenge imo. you want the rewards but have a job or a social life? well... too bad.

it should be at least 2 weeks like normal events or better a months. i mean we are looking at nearly extinct animals here. you cant just breed 100k of them in 5 days. thats ridiculous. fits the speed of the game though lol

I like the design of the community challenges so far.

That's no argument sorry. I finished the gorilla challenge in ~3.5 hours - And I have a family, a social life and a job. Additionally I don't have hundred thousands of dollars or ten thousands of CC. All you need to do is to understand franchise mode, read the challenge-task correctly and finally act logical. The only requirement in my opinion is, that you should have been played franchise mode for a few little hours to already have generated a bit capital.

In my opinion everyone who's willing to invest a few little hours each week in which he's focusing on the task will reach the final stage of the challenge without any problems - The better the tactic, the shorter the required time.

No rocket science, no puppy mills, no need to invest countless hours to reach the final stage of a community challenge. Same counts for the tiger challenge from last week. But it looks like to me that a lot of people complaining are thinking way too complicated - Or some people complaining want everything served to them on a silver platter so they don't have to do something for their rewards.

the last time it took me 3 breeding pairs in 3 habitats of tigers and 4 hours in permanent fast forward to generate enough for the last stage. and in the end only half of them counted for whatever reason. so yeah...

Sorry, but THIS is not a solid argument to me either. Sounds like you A) would have had a ton of breeding pairs to begin with and B) would have had to play the game on the fastest speed the entire time. That is NOT the playstyle of everyone in this game and it's simply illogical to base a community event after "farmers". You also mentioned nothing about inbreeding which is what a lot of players in this game resort to in order to accomplish the goal which, again, is not everyone's playstyle. Some people actually care about genetics.

This game is not some super serious job when you have to go go go in order to get any kinds of rewards. Some people are simply casual players that want to play at a slower speed, and for a COMMUNITY challenge, you have to cater to EVERYONE in the community. Not just people like you.

Sorry I'm so blunt but I'm really tired of this "us vs. them" mentality on this forum, where some people have a superiority complex over players that maybe are more casual, or find the game has a steeper learning curve. I have had no difficulties adjusting to the game myself, but as a game designer I think it's in serious poor taste for anyone to say something like "well I can do it, so why can't you?"

Most community events are always minimum 2 weeks in games, because most people understand there needs to be time for all players to enjoy a game. So just because some players are able to achieve something in a few hours then congrats good for you. Doesn't mean it's going to work that way for everyone, and once again, it's in poor taste to think that someone doesn't deserve more time to get the awards too simply because they aren't as efficient.

not really. I spent all my CC for last challenge to get a breeding pair of tigers

they had 2 cubs in the 5 days of the challenge. 2. i didn't have enough CC to buy more tiger pairs, especially with how their prices skyrocketed. It took every CC i had to get the breeding pair i got, and even with max bengal tiger research, they only mated twice.

so no, it's not just a few little hours each week. If you don't have the huge CC making animals, you have to earn it 20 here and 20 there by breeding smaller things, and that takes time. And then you spend it all on ONE of what you need, and have to do it all over again for the mate for that. It's nto as easy as you make it out to be. I played beta, i have 100 hours in this game already, my zoo has 5 stars and complete research on every animal in it so far, and i still struggle to make enough CC to be able to afford community challenge animals...becuase they're picking the animals that are super expensive already for how much i can make off my zebras and hippos and everything else i have that doesn't sell for much

wow, so much hate and so many wrong insinuations 🙄

I think I said now everything I wanted to say in this thread, there's no further escalation needet.

A red ruffed lemur! No mandrill, no zebra.

Just now, I got another animal as reward, a wild dog. I went to check my storage: empty! All three awarded animals have disappeared now. Oh boy!

If it's any consolation, the 6 animals I've been rewarded from the events have all had fairly medicore stats. You're not missing out on too much. :p

I assume you've already double checked/changed around your filters in the rewards window, to check they're not hidden somehow?

... slowly wiping the egg off my face ... All animals accounted for. LOL! I never even considered that the filter in my main storage would also be applied to the rewards storage. Why can they make the filter stick where it’s not that important, but not in the Zoo animal filter, where by now, I probably wasted hours just by having to apply the filter again every single time?

In the current community task animals are again offered for 3000 CC or more although the animals are already half dead or have no special features. I'll probably completely abandon the community tasks. That's too annoying for me. This has nothing to do with community tasks if you only work against each other. Just sad.
That's the difference between people - IRL and in games. I would never fraudulently sell something to another person but many business people would/do. I would never misrepresent an animal on the market neither but some people would. Price inflation is a real thing, its part of business and since this is franchise mode its not a deal breaker to me to see it happen; in fact the way the market is set up it is pretty much guaranteed to happen. What is frustrating, however, is if those practices block everyone from being able to participate and enjoy the game. I have little interest in most of the other game modes so when franchise hasn't always worked or not worked well this past week it has been frustrating.

I was raised to always offer a possible solution whenever raising a problem rather than just complaining. So here is my suggestion: a market filter for sellers so we can blacklist those sellers we've experienced fraudulent sales (e.g. trying to pass off normal animals as albino) or just inflate prices for poor genetic traits (happens a lot).

Another problem I see: there are hardly any animals being offered in the market for some animals. Those that are being offered tend to be overpriced and lower quality. I cannot keep some habitats going because I cannot find replacement animals.

I myself probably contribute to this because once you have a good stash of CC, it’s almost not worth going through the trouble of listing you animals via your storage one by one. They might not sell within one hour and then you have to go through the process again. All the while they are taking up space in your storage. Releasing all of them to the wild with simply selecting them all and two more clicks is sooo much faster and sinpler! I often go that way just because the many management tasks already demand too much of my time. I sometimes feel bad because they are often high stats animals that would be great for another player. But it’s just not worth the time.

I hope Frontier can optimize the trading part of the game. I also would like to know if there are some mechanisms in place that provide Frontier animals regularly for all animals. But although they add animals for the community challenge species, I have some trading tabs that remain empty.

Does anyone who has reached the highest rank on this community challenge may tell me how many gorillas he/she/genderofchoice had to set free?

I am at 51 and slowly but steady go even more nuts than i am usually 🙉

If anyone really wants to know, with 61 i just got the last reward.
Its 250 CC ;)
